Johnson allowed the game-tying run to enter the batter's box, but was able to work out of the jam by forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to seal the victory for the Orioles. 10 PC-6 ST (6/18/13) (SU) Darren O’Day (R)--Was used to record the final two outs of the eighth inning on Saturday but allowed a two-run home run to Jose Bautista before doing so. O'Day has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to be given the day off on Sunday. 12 PC-9 ST (6/22/13) (MR) Brian Matusz (L)--Took the loss Friday after allowing one run on one hit and one walk in 1.1 innings of relief. Matusz has been very inconsistent this season and if his struggles continue, his role in the Orioles bullpen will start to be less meaningful. 23 PC-15 ST (6/21/13)Boston Red Sox(CL) Shaky Koji Uehara (R)–Picked up his 13th hold of the season Thursday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. After going through a rough stretch a few weeks back, Uehara has gotten right back on track, and may be considered for the closer job if Andrew Bailey continues to struggle. 10 PC-9 ST (6/20/13) (SU) Andrew Bailey (R)--Took the loss and was charged with his fourth blown-save Thursday after surrendering a game-winning home run to Jhonny Peralta in the bottom of the ninth inning. Bailey has been terrible over his last four outings, having allowed seven runs, and if he doesn't clean up his act he may lose the closer role for the Red Sox. 9 PC-4 ST (6/20/13) (MR) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Earned his 12th hold of the season Friday night after pitching 0.2 innings of scoreless relief. Tazawa allowed one hit in the appearance, but was able to work around it by forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to make it through the appearance unharmed. 8 PC-6 ST (6/21/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his 21st save of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Reed needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance, forcing three fly ball outs to seal the victory for the White Sox. 10 PC-7 ST (6/22/13) (SU) Jesse Crain (R)–Picked up the win on Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 29 pitches thrown. Crain improved to 2-1 following this appearance and is now sitting on a 0.53 earned-run average on the season. 29 PC-20 ST (6/22/13) (MR) Matt Thornton (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Tuesday night allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 24 pitches thrown. Shaw has now allowed two runs over his last three appearances, and will need to turn things around if he wants to continue to be used in meaningful roles out of the Indians bullpen. 22 PC-12 ST (6/22/13) Injured--Chris Perez (Shoulder)Detroit Tigers(CL) Shaky Joaquin Benoit (R)–Earned his fourth save of the season Sunday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 17 pitches thrown. Despite Jose Valvede being available, Benoit was used in the save situation, but the team still considers Valverde their closer so don't look too much into this situation. 17 PC-11 ST (6/16/13) (SU) Phil Coke (L)--Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night allowing two runs on one hit and one walk. Coke has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the day off on Saturday, especially after allowing three runs over his last two outings. 19 PC-11 ST (6/21/13) (MR) Al Alburquerque (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Alburquerque has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect to see him get the day off on Sunday. 19 PC-12 ST (6/22/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Shaky Jose Veras (R)–Recorded his 15th save of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter on six pitches thrown. After a slow start to the season, Veras has now recorded saves in four of his last five appearances, making himself a very serviceable closer in all formats. 6 PC-5 ST (6/22/13) (SU) Hector Ambriz (R)--Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning allowing one walk while striking out one batter on 19 pitches thrown. Ambriz has now pitched back-to-back days, so it is unlikely be will be available out of the Astros bullpen on Friday. 19 PC-11 ST (6/20/13) (MR) Wesley Wright (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Friday striking out the only batter he faced on three pitches. Wright was used to get the first out of the eighth inning, and has now pitched back-to-back days. 3 PC-3 ST (6/21/13)Kansas City Royals(CL) Solid Greg Holland (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. This appearance was his first outing since Monday, so expect to see him used again on Sunday, even if it is in a non-save situation. 16 PC-11 ST (6/22/13) (SU) Kelvin Herrera (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday in a non-save situation allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two batters on 22 pitches thrown. Cook falls to 1-1 following this performance, and has now allowed three runs over his last two outings. 24 PC-13 ST (6/22/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Doolittle looked great in this outing, but has been very inconsistent over the last few weeks of the season, so hopefully he will be able to build off of this performance. 11 PC-9 ST (6/22/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Committee Oliver Perez (L)--Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday striking out the only batter he faced to end the eighth inning. Perez threw just four pitches in the appearance, so expect to see him used more over the next few days. 4 PC-3 ST (6/20/13) (CL) Committee Carter Capps (R)–Took the loss on Thursday after allowing two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. Capps has now allowed eight runs in his last three appearances, so expect his role to be limited until he works out his issues over the next few weeks. 15 PC-10 ST (6/20/13) (SU)  Tom Wilhelmsen (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one batter on 20 pitches thrown. Wilhelmsen is having trouble rediscovering his confidence, and until then the Mariners will continue to use him in non-save situations. 20 PC-16 ST (6/21/13) Injured–Stephen Pryor (back)Tampa Bay Rays(CL) Shaky Fernando Rodney (R)–Was used to record the final out of the ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation striking out the only batter he faced on six pitches thrown. This was Rodney's first outing since last Saturday, so expect to see much more of his in the upcoming days. 6 PC-3 ST (6/19/13) (SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Took the loss on Saturday after surrendering three runs on one hit and two walks in the seventh inning. It was a shaky outing for Henderson, but that will happen over your first few appearances after missing time due to injury. 26 PC-14 ST (6/21/13) (CL) Committee Francisco Rodriguez (R)--Recorded his sixth save of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 13 pitches thrown. This save took Rodriguez to the 300-mark on the season, but now we should see Jim Henderson getting most of the saves now that he has past his milestone. 13 PC-11 ST (6/22/13) (MR) John Axford (R)–Picked up his 11th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Adams is enduring arguably his worst season in the big leagues, but outings like this show that he could be trending back in the right direction. 12 PC-8 ST (6/19/13) (MR) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Earned his 10th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 14 pitches thrown. It was a surprise to see the Phillies used Bastardo in the eighth inning over Mike Adams, so maybe there is something more to this appearance than the team will let us know. 14 PC-11 ST (6/22/13)Pittsburgh Pirates(CL) Elite Jason Grilli (R)–Recorded his 26th save of the season Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters on only 12 pitches thrown. Grilli bounced back nicely from his first blown-save proving that he is built to last as the Pirates closer. 12 PC-10 ST (6/21/13) (SU) Mark Melancon (R)--Earned his 22nd hold of the season Wednesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit on 10 pitches thrown. Both Melancon and Jason Grilli have now pitched back-to-back days, so it will be interesting to see what the team does if a save situation arises on Thursday. 10 PC-7 ST (6/19/13) (MR) Tony Watson (L)--Earned his second save of the season Thursday after pitching two innings of scoreless relief. With both Mark Melancon and Jason Grilli unavailable, Watson was able to get the job done retiring all six batters he faced in order. 23 PC-15 ST (6/20/13)San Diego Padres(CL) Solid Huston Street (R)--Recorded his 15th save of the season Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning needing only 11 pitches to work through the frame. Injured--Santiago Casilla (Knee)St. Louis Cardinals(CL) Elite Edward Mujica (R)–Recorded his 21st save of the season Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Mujica needed only eight pitches to get through the inning, forcing three fly ball outs to seal the victory for the Cardinals. 8 PC-6 ST (6/19/13) (SU) Trevor Rosenthal (R)--Took the loss Friday night after allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over two innings of relief. Rosenthal has now allowed a run in two of his last three appearances, but considering how well he was pitching prior to this week, he should be able to get back on track relatively quick. 28 PC-22 ST (6/21/13) (MR) Randy Choate (L)--Recorded the final out of the seventh inning on Friday night allowing one hit on six pitches thrown. Choate has now pitched back-to-back days, but considering his low pitch counts, he should be available for Saturday. 6 PC-5 ST (6/21/13) Injured– Jason Motte (Elbow), Fernando Salas (Shoulder)Washington Nationals(CL) Solid Rafael Soriano (R)--Collected his 19th save of the season Friday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown. Soriano has now pitched three consecutive days, so expect the Nationals to use either Drew Storen or Tyler Clipppard in the closer role on Saturday. 18 PC-13 ST (6/21/13) (SU) Drew Storen (R)--Picked up his 10th hold of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one walk while striking out two batters on 14 pitches thrown. With Rafael Soriano having pitched three straight days, Storen may be used in the closer role on Saturday. 14 PC-10 ST (6/21/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Wednesday allowing one walk while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown.
