Uehara bounced back nicely from a blown-save on Saturday, which is much better than what we have seen this season from the likes of Andrew Bailey and Joe Hanrahan. 7 PC-6 ST (7/9/13) (SU) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday night allowing one run on two hits needing 24 pitches to work through the frame. Tazawa has now allowed runs in back-to-back appearances, so hopefully he can turn things around the next time he takes the mound. 24 PC-13 ST (7/9/13) (MR) Andrew Bailey (R)--Earned his seventh hold of the season Tuesday after pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Bailey allowed one hit in the appearance, forcing four ground ball outs and one strikeout to get the job done. 19 PC-13 ST (7/9/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Was used in a non-save situation Monday night allowing one run on three hits in the ninth inning. This was Reed's first appearance since last Thursday, so despite the huge deficit, the White Sox wanted him to get some work in. 22 PC-17 ST (7/8/13) (SU) Jesse Crain (R)–Took the loss on Saturday after allowing one run on three hits in the eighth inning. The earned run allowed by Crain in this contest was his first surrendered since April 12, which brings his season total up to three on the season. 18 PC-12 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Matt Thornton (L)–Took the loss on Monday night after allowing three runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Thornton only recorded one out in the appearance before being pulled in favor of Nate Jones, in what was a terrible inning for the White Sox. 13 PC-5 ST (7/8/13)Cleveland Indians(CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)--Collected his 10th save of the season Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing two hits while striking out one batter. Smith had a chance to earn a save with Chris Perez unavailable, but the chance slip away and has now pitched three consecutive days. 16 PC-8 ST (7/10/13) (MR) Vinny Pestano (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday retiring both batters he faced in order on only nine pitches thrown. Pestano forced two fly ball outs to get through the appearance, which was much better than what we are used to seeing from his this season. 9 PC-6 ST (7/10/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Shaky Joaquin Benoit (R)–Collected his eighth save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing two walks while striking out one batter on 22 pitches thrown. Benoit has handled the closer role very well since taking over for Jose Valverde and appears to be in it for the long haul. 22 PC-12 ST (7/10/13) (SU) Phil Coke (L)--Recorded the final out of the eighth inning on Tuesday night allowing one hit and one walk on 11 pitches thrown. Coke has yet to turn things around this season, but will likely stay with the team for the foreseeable future considering he is left-handed. 11 PC-5 ST (7/9/13) (MR) Al Alburquerque (R)--Had another rough outing on Tuesday night allowing three runs on four hits in the eighth inning. He has now allowed six runs over his last two appearances, and if he doesn't turn things around, the Tigers will likely send him packing back to the minors. 16 P-11 ST (7/9/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Solid Jose Veras (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Veras needed 11 pitches to work through the frame, forcing two fly ball outs while striking out one batter on get the job done. 11 PC-9 ST (7/6/13) (SU) Hector Ambriz (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Monday surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks. Storen has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the day off on Monday. 18 PC-12 ST (7/7/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season Wednesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit on 12 pitches thrown.
