Johnson has been pitching very well as of late, so hopefully for his fantasy owners this is not the start of a bad run. 20 PC-11 ST (8/9/13) (SU) Darren O’Day (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. O'Day needed only 11 pitches to work through the frame, striking out all three batters he faced, which is not what we are used to seeing from O'Day, so don't expect it to happen often. 11 PC-9 ST (8/10/13) (MR) Tommy Hunter (R)--Earned his third save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless 10th inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Hunter has been able to fill in nicely when needed to close out games, but is still considered to be behind Darren O'day on the depth chart. 10 PC-7 ST (8/9/13)Boston Red Sox(CL) Solid Koji Uehara (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season Saturday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Uehara needed only 12 pitches to work through the frame, forcing two ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. 12 PC-8 ST (8/10/13) (SU) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Picked up his 19th hold of the season Saturday after pitching two innings of relief allowing two hits while striking out two batters on 23 pitches thrown. Tazawa has now pitched two innings in each of his last two appearances as the Red Sox try to work around a few injuries to key players in their bullpen. 23 PC-18 ST (8/10/13) (MR)  Craig Breslow (L)--Earned his ninth hold of the season Saturday after recording the final two outs of the sixth inning. Breslow has now pitched back-to-back days, but has limited his pitch counts in both contests, so he should be good to go for the series finale on Sunday. 6 PC-5 ST (8/10/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm), Andrew Bailey (Shoulder), Matt Thornton (Oblique)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his 28th save of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Reed needed only nine pitches to work through the frame, so he should be available on Sunday despite pitching back-to-back days. 9 PC-6 ST (8/10/13) (SU) Matt Lindstrom (R)--Was used in both ends of Friday's doubleheader, earning his fifth hold of the season in Game 1 and being charged with a blown-save in the night cap. Since he pitched in both games, expect Lindstrom to get the day off on Saturday and be back in the mix on Sunday. 6 PC-4 ST (8/9/13) (MR) Nate Jones (R)--Earned his seventh hold of the season on Saturday after pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Jones struck out four batters in the appearance, and has now recorded nine strikeouts over his last 3.1 innings of work. 29 PC-21 ST (8/10/13)Cleveland Indians(CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)--Pitched a scoreless 10th inning on Wednesday night in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 13 pitches thrown. Smith has now pitched three of the last four days, so expect him to get the night off on Thursday. 14 PC-9 ST (8/7/13) (MR) Marc Rzepczynski (L)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 20 pitches thrown. Apparently he just needed to switch jerseys, because since coming over to the Cleveland, he has been a totally different pitcher, having yet to allow an earned-run. 20 PC-11 ST (8/10/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Shaky Joaquin Benoit (R)–Recorded his 14th save of the season Wednesday despite allowing one run on two hits in the 14th inning. Benoit got himself into a serious jam, but was able to force one fly ball out while striking out two batters to secure the Tiger victory. 24 PC-17 ST (8/7/13) (SU) Jose Veras (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation allowing one walk while striking out one batter on 15 pitches thrown. Veras has done a great job since coming over from the Astros, but has little to no fantasy value outside of holds leagues while Joaquin Benoit continues to impress in the closer role. 15 PC-10 ST (8/9/13) (MR) Bruce Rondon (R)--Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday night allowing two walks while striking out one batter on 23 pitches thrown. Rondon has been used to pitch multiple innings each of his last three appearances, as the team tries to stretch him out into a long relief man as the playoffs inch closer. 23 PC-12 ST( 8/9/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Committee Josh Fields (R)–Was used in the seventh inning on Friday night allowing two runs on two walks recording only one out before being pulled. After a great start to the week (1.1 IP 4 K 1 SV), Fields has now allowed five runs over his last two appearances, so there isn't much to like here. 12 PC-3 ST (8/9/13) (CL) Committee Travis Blackley (L)--Failed to record an out in his appearance on Wednesday night after allowing one hit and one walk in the seventh inning. This was a terrible outing from Blackley, but he got lucky that his teammate Chia-Jen Lo got him off the hook. 12 PC-5 ST (8/7/13) (MR) Wesley Wright (L)--Failed to record an out in his appearance on Friday night allowing one hit and one walk before being pulled. This is the type of outing we have grown to see from Wright this season, but with little help around him, he should be with the team the remainder of the season. 13 PC-7 ST (8/9/13)Kansas City Royals(CL) Solid Greg Holland (R)–Recorded his 31st save of the season Friday night after retiring all three batters he faced in order. Holland continues to be one of the best closers in all of baseball, and has been a big factor in the Royals latest push to stay in contention for a playoff spot. 11 PC-8 ST (8/9/13) (SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Earned his 17th hold of the season Wednesday after recording the final two outs of the seventh inning. Herrera continues to pitch well this time around and appears to be here to stay. 16 PC-11 ST (8/9/13)Los Angeles Angels(CL) Shaky Dane De La Rosa (R)--Earned his first save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one walk on 22 pitches thrown. De La Rosa may be used more down the stretch considering the struggles of Ernesto Frieri, and should be added to watch lists, especially those in desperate need of saves. 22 PC-13 ST (8/9/13)(SU) Ernesto Frieri (R)–Was used in the ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Frieri has temporarily been removed from the closer role and will be used in lower leverage situations for the time being, so look for Dane De La Rosa to be used in the closer role for now. 9 PC-7 ST (8/10/13) (MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order on 19 pitches thrown. Jepsen had it going in this one, striking out the side, which is not something he commonly does, as he is more of a pitch-to-contact reliever. 19 PC-12 ST (8/10/13) Injured:  Ryan Madson (Elbow), Sean Burnett (Elbow)Minnesota Twins(CL) Solid Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched both ends of Friday's doubleheader allowing two runs in a non-save situation in Game 1 and earned his 28th save in Game 2. This was Balfour's first appearance in a week, so that is likely the reasoning for his use outside the ninth inning. 18 PC-12 ST (8/10/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter on 10 pitches thrown. Cook hadn't allowed a run since July 6, so all things considered he has been pitching very well as of late. 10 PC-8 ST (8/10/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday afternoon needing only 10 pitches to work through the appearance. Peralta faced two batters in the appearance, allowing one hit while forcing one fly ball out to secure the lead heading into the ninth inning. 7 PC-4 ST (8/9/13) (MR) Jake McGee (L)--Was used to get the first two outs of the eighth inning on Friday night allowing one run on one walk while striking out one batter on 19 pitches thrown.
