He failed to make it through the inning after recording only two outs, and is now sitting on a 2-6 record for the season. 18 PC-7 ST (6/26/13) (SU) Darren O’Day (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday night allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown. After allowing three runs over his previous two appearances, O'Day was able to get back on track in this one, so hopefully he will be able to continue trending in the right direction. 18 PC-14 ST (6/27/13) (MR) Brian Matusz (L)--Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday needing only four pitches to force the only batter he faced to fly out to end the seventh inning. Matusz has now pitched three of the last four days, so expect him to be given the day off on Friday. 4 PC-2 ST (6/27/13)Boston Red Sox(CL) Shaky Koji Uehara (R)–Recorded his fourth save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters on 15 pitches thrown. Uehara has now pitched three consecutive days, so expect Junichi Tazawa to be used in the closer role on Saturday. 15 PC-13 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Took the loss on Saturday after surrendering two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. Tazawa has now allowed three runs over his last three appearances, but is still sitting on a very respectable 2.92 ERA on the year. 23 PC-15 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Andrew Bailey (R)--Was charged with his fifth blown-save of the season Friday night after allowing one run on one hit in the seventh inning. Bailey continues to struggle coming out of the Red Sox bullpen, and if he continues down this path, there is a chance he won't be on the roster much longer. 11 PC-8 ST (6/28/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his fourth blown-save of the season Friday night after surrendering four runs on four hits in the ninth inning. Reed has now blown three saves in his last six appearance, and if he continues down this road, we may see Jesse Crain take over the closer role before season's end. 31 PC-19 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Jesse Crain (R)–Took the loss on Saturday after allowing one run on three hits in the eighth inning. The earned run allowed by Crain in this contest was his first surrendered since April 12, which brings his season total up to three on the season. 18 PC-12 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Matt Thornton (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. This appearance was Thornton's first outing since last Sunday, so expect to see much more of him in the upcoming days. 14 PC-9 ST (6/29/13)Cleveland Indians(CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)--Recorded his seventh save of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning needing only 11 pitches to get the job done. Perez has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect to see Vinny Pestano used in the closer role on Sunday. 11 PC-6 ST (6/29/13) (SU) Vinny Pestano (R)--Recorded his sixth save of the season in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. With Chris Perez pitching in Game 1, the Indians didn't want him pitching again so Pestano sealed the sweep of the day for the Indians. 17 PC-9 ST (6/28/13) (MR) Joe Smith (R)--Picked up his seventh hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Smith has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely get the day off on Sunday, so owners in holds leagues will want to plan accordingly. 10 PC-7 ST (6/29/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Shaky Joaquin Benoit (R)–Recorded his fifth save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 14 pitches thrown. Benoit has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect himto be unavailable out of the Tigers bullpen on Saturday. 14 PC-12 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Phil Coke (L)--Took the loss on Thursday after surrendering two runs on three hits and one walk in the 10th inning. Coke recorded just one out before being pulled in favor of Luke Putkonen, who was able to escape the 10th inning without allowing the Angels to score any more runs. 20 PC-11 ST (6/27/13) (MR) Al Alburquerque (R)--Earned his fifth hold of the season Friday night after pitching 0.2 innings of scoreless relief allowing one walk while striking out two batters. Alburquerque has now pitched three consecutive days so expect him to get the day off on Saturday. 19 PC-10 ST (6/28/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Solid Jose Veras (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 14 pitches thrown. Quietly, Veras has really picked up his production as of late, and has now earned seven saves out of his last 10 appearances.  14 PC-8 ST (6/26/13) (SU) Hector Ambriz (R)--Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday allowing one hit on 12 pitches thrown. Ambriz has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the day off on Sunday. 12 PC-7 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Wesley Wright (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit and one walk on 19 pitches thrown. With Hector Ambriz working on consecutive days, Wright will likely be used int eh setup role on Sunday if the situation arises. 19 PC-12 ST (6/29/13)Kansas City Royals(CL) Solid Greg Holland (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation striking out the side on 11 pitches thrown. Holland has been one of the best closers in the American League for most of the season, and has now lowered his earned-run average to 1.86 through 29.0 innings pitched. 11 PC-9 ST (6/26/13) (SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Friday night retiring both batter she faced in order on eight pitches thrown. With the demotion of Kelvin Herrera, Crow will settle back into the setup role for the Royals, making him a solid pickup in holds leagues. 8 PC-4 ST (6/28/13) (MR) Tim Collins (L)--Pitched 0.2 innings of scoreless relief on Friday night allowing one walk on 11 pitches thrown. Collins was needed to record the final two outs of the seventh inning, which he did without letting the Twins break into the Royals six-run lead. 11 PC-5 ST (6/28/13)Los Angeles Angels(CL) Solid Ernesto Frieri (R)–Earned his 20th save of the season Friday night despite allowing one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. Frieri has now pitched three consecutive days, so expect him to get the day off on Saturday. 29 PC-19 ST (6/28/13) (MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)--Earned his sixth hold of the season Friday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit and one walk on 22 pitches thrown. Jepsen has now pitched three consecutive days and will likely be unavailable out of the Angels bullpen on Saturday. 22 PC-13 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Scott Downs (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday allowing one hit on only nine pitches thrown. Downs has now pitched consecutive days, but his pitch counts  have been low, so he will likely be available Friday for the Angels series opener with the Astros. 9 PC-5 ST (6/27/13) Injured:  Ryan Madson (Elbow), Sean Burnett (Elbow)Minnesota Twins(CL) Solid Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Perkins needed only 17 pitches to work through the inning forcing one fly ball out while striking out two batters to seal the victory for the Twins. 17 PC-10 ST (6/29/13) (SU) Jared Burton (R)–Picked up his 15th hold of the season Thursday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 13 pitches thrown. This was Burton's first appearance since Sunday, so expect to see much more of him in the upcoming days. 13 PC-10 ST (6/27/13) (MR) Casey Fien (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing two hits while striking out two batters on 20 pitches thrown. After being used to face one batter per outing for most of the season, Fien has now started to pitch full innings, which has increased his stock in holds leagues. 20 PC-15 ST (6/29/13)New York Yankees(CL) Elite Mariano Rivera (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation allowing one hit on 11 pitches thrown. Rivera entered the game with a tied score, and after Tanner Scheppers' allowed a walk-off home run, Rivera ended up with the win. 11 PC-10 ST (6/25/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation allowing one hit and one walk on 16 pitches thrown. Robertson got himself into a jam, but was able to force two ground ball outs to keep the game deadlocked at three runs a piece. 16 PC-9 ST (6/25/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday retiring both batters he faced via strikeouts. Logan threw only nine pitches in the appearance, so he should be available Thursday despite pitching consecutive days. 9 PC-8 ST (6/26/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Solid Grant Balfour (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after surrendering three runs on two hits in the 10th inning. Balfour entered the game in a non-save situation, which seems to be the downfall for many closers this season, and allowed a home run to Kendrys Morales to end the game. 13 PC-8 ST (6/23/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)--Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Tuesday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Cook only needed 11 pitches to work through the frame, forcing two ground ball outs while striking out one batter to keep the Athletics on top. 11 PC-9 ST (6/25/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday night allowing two hits while striking out one batter on 12 pitches thrown. Doolittle got himself into ajam, but was able to forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to secure the lead heading into the ninth inning. 12 PC-9 ST (6/25/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Committee Oliver Perez (L)--Took the loss on Saturday after allowing two runs on three hits in the 11th inning. Perez has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect the Mariners to give him the day off on Sunday to clear his head. 17 PC-14 ST (6/29/13) (CL) Committee Carter Capps (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Tuesday night allowing two run son three hits while striking out four batter on 30 pitches thrown. Capps continues to struggle with his command and will now likely get the day off Wednesday after recording a high pitch count in this contest. 30 PC-20 ST (6/25/13) (SU)  Tom Wilhelmsen (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of scoreless relief on Wednesday retiring both batters he faced in order. Wilhelmsen needed only eight pitches to work through the frame, forcing two fly ball outs to make it through his second straight scoreless relief appearance. 8 PC-5 ST (6/26/13) Injured–Stephen Pryor (back)Tampa Bay Rays(CL) Shaky Fernando Rodney (R)–Picked up the win on Saturday after pitching two innings of relief allowing two hits while striking out two batters. Considering he threw 32 pitches in the contest, there is a good chance the Rays will elect to give him the day off on Saturday. 32 PC-22 ST (6/29/13) (SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing one hit on 11 pitches thrown. If the Rays were to give Fernando Rodney the day off on Sunday, expect to see Peralta used in the closer role in his absence. 11 PC-8 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Jake McGee (L)–Picked up his 14th hold of the season Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless seventh inning allowing one walk on 20  pitches thrown. McGee has really started to shine after a disastrous start to the season, and may become a solid player to own in holds leagues if he continues to perform at this level. 20 PC-12 ST (6/25/13)Texas Rangers(CL) Elite Joe Nathan (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Fantasy owners should not be alarmed by the fact he was used outside of the ninth inning, as the Blue Jays probably just wanted him to get some work in after almost a week off. 11 PC-8 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Steve Delabar (R)–Picked up the won on Saturday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief, striking out four batters on 30 pitches thrown. With this appearance Delabar improved to 5-1 on the season and has now racked up 54 strikeouts in 39.0 innings of relief. 30 PC-22 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Brett Cecil (L)--Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Friday night allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 14 pitches thrown. When it rains it pours for Hernandez, who has now allowed three or more runs in thee of his last 10 appearances, making him very hard to trust at this point. 12 PC-6 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Heath Bell (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. With the return of J.J. Putz to the bullpen, Bell will return to middle relief duties, which takes away his fantasy value in standard leagues. 13 PC-7 ST (6/29/13)Injured: Matt Reynolds (Elbow)Atlanta Braves(CL) Elite Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his 23rd save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one walk on 14 pitches thrown. Johnny Cueto left the game with an injury, and hf he heads back to the disabled list, Cingrani will likely move back into the starting rotation. 79 PC-44 ST (6/28/13) Injured--Sean Marshall  (Shoulder), Jonathan Broxton (Elbow)Colorado Rockies(CL) Solid Rafael Betancourt (R)--Picked up the win on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. This was Betancourt's first appearance since coming off of the disabled list, and didn't look like he skipped a beat. 11 PC-8 ST (6/29/13) (SU) Rex Brothers (L)–Was used in a non-save situation on Friday night allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 26 pitches thrown. Brothers has now pitched back-to-back days, and will likely get the day off on Saturday considering his high pitch count. 26 PC-14 ST (6/28/13)(MR) Wilton Lopez (R)–Recorded the first out of the seventh inning on Saturday throwing only three pitches in the appearance. Rodriguez forcing two fly ball outs while striking out one batter to get the job done in a meaningless inning, but the fact he was used after Jim Henderson indicates his stay in the closer role may not be over just yet. 11 PC-10 ST (6/27/13) (MR) John Axford (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday night retiring all three batters he faced in order on 15 pitches. Axford continues to dominate after a rough start to the season, and may find himself back in the closer role if he continues to pitch this well. 15 PC-10 ST (6/29/13)New York Mets(CL) Solid Bobby Parnell (R)–Took the loss on Friday night after allowing two runs on two hits in the ninth inning. When Grilli isn't striking batters out, he is forcing ground balls, which he forced two in this contest with one fly ball out on just six pitches thrown. 6 PC-5 ST (6/29/13) (SU) Mark Melancon (R)--Earned his 23rd hold of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning striking out two batters on 20 pitches thrown. Melancon continued his success in this contest, and is now sitting on a 0.92 ERA through 39.1 innings of work this year. 20 PC-14 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Tony Watson (L)--Picked up his 12th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning needing only 11 pitches to work through the frame. Affeldt failed to make it through the inning, recording only two outs before serving up the game-winning single to Nolan Arenado. 13 PC-7 ST (6/29/13) (MR) Javier Lopez (L)--Recorded the final out of the seventh inning in his appearance on Wednesday night needing only one pitch to get the job done. Lopez has now been used four of the last six days, but should be available Thursday considering his low pitch counts over those contests. 1 PC-1 ST (6/26/13) Injured--Santiago Casilla (Knee)St. Louis Cardinals(CL) Elite Edward Mujica (R)–Was used in a non-save situation on Tuesday night allowing two hits and one walk in 0.2 innings of relief. Mujica was quickly removed from the contest after clearly not having his best stuff, but as we know, some pitcher are just better in save situations. 18 PC-11 ST (6/25/13) (SU) Trevor Rosenthal (R)--Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Sunday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 17 pitches thrown. Rosenthal was used to get the final out of the seventh inning, and was able to do so, just not in a ordering fashion. 17 PC-11 ST (6/23/13) (MR) Randy Choate (L)--Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Sunday retiring all four batters he faced in order. Choate struck out two batters in the appearance while forcing two ground ball outs to get the job done. 15 PC-11 ST (6/23/13) Injured– Jason Motte (Elbow), Fernando Salas (Shoulder)Washington Nationals(CL) Solid Rafael Soriano (R)--Pitched a scoreless 10th inning on Thursday in a non-save situation allowing one walk on 13 pitches thrown. Soriano has now pitched three straight days, so he will likely be unavailable on Friday. 13 PC-7 ST (6/27/13) (SU) Drew Storen (R)--Earned his second save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Storen needed only nine pitches to work through the inning forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. 9 PC-6 ST (6/28/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Picked up the win on Friday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one walk on 19 pitches thrown.
