Tazawa figured to be used in the closer role in this contest with Koji Uehara unavailable, but that clearly wasn't case considering he was used in the eighth inning. 7 PC-2 ST (7/7/13) (MR) Andrew Bailey (R)--Earned his sixth hold of the season Saturday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief allowing one hit in the outing. Bailey looked good in this appearance, needing only 17 pitches to work through the seventh and eight innings, forcing three ground ball outs while striking out one batter. 17 PC-15 ST (7/6/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Was used in a non-save situation Monday night allowing one run on three hits in the ninth inning. Perez has now pitched three consecutive days, and considering he is not far removed from the disabled list, he will likely be unavailable Tuesday. 7 PC-5 ST (7/8/13)(SU) Joe Smith (R)--Recorded the final two outs of the eighth inning on Monday night retiring both batter he faced in order. Smith as pitched back-to-back days, but will likely be used in the closer role Tuesday with Chris Perez likely unavailable after pitching three straight days. 7 PC-4 ST (7/8/13)(MR) Vinny Pestano (R)--Was charged with his third blown-save of the season Sunday after allowing three runs on four hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Frieri has now pitched back-to-back days (3.0 innings), but the Angels have a day off on Monday, so that should be enough rest for Frieri to be available for their series opener with the Cubs on Tuesday. 18 PC-13 ST (7/7/13) (MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday allowing one run on two hits and one walk. Wilhelmsen has really turned his season around over his last few appearances, but appears to still be in a timeshare situation with Oliver Perez. 5 PC-3 ST (7/7/13) (SU) Oliver Perez (L)--Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night allowing two runs on three hits. Luckily for Perez the Mariners had a big lead before he entered the game, so his bad outing really didn't hurt the team in this one. 19 PC-15 ST (7/8/13) (MR)  Carter Capps (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Saturday night allowing three runs on four hits needing 23 pitches to work through the appearance. Nathan has now pitched back-to-back days, but has limited his pitch counts in those contests, so he should be available on Tuesday. 19 PC-12 ST (7/8/13) (SU) Tanner Scheppers (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday allowing two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. After a few solid appearances, Scheppers slipped up once again on Saturday, as it appears all the innings he has logged this season may be starting to catch up to him. 10 PC-9 ST (7/6/13) (MR) Jason Frasor (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 11 pitches thrown. With the return of Joakim Soria, Frasor could see a lesser role moving forward, but for now still consider him third on the depth chart. 11 PC-9 ST (7/7/13)Toronto Blue Jays(CL) Solid Casey Janssen (R)–Was used in a non-save situation on Sunday allowing one hit on 15 pitches thrown in the ninth inning. Janssen was coming off of his worst performance on the year on Thursday, so it was nice to see him get back on track in this contest. 15 PC-12 ST (7/7/13) (SU) Steve Delabar (R)–Picked a scoreless eighth inning on Monday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Hernandez has been struggling as of late, but the fact he was used in a tied ballgame in the ninth inning indicates the team has not lost all faith in him. 12 PC-7 ST (7/4/13) (MR) J.J. Putz (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring the side on 13 pitches thrown. Gregg has now pitched back-to-back days and considering his high pitch count in this game, he will likely get the day off on Monday. 26 PC-16 ST (7/7/13) (SU) James Russell (L)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Monday night retiring both batters he faced in order. Russell has now pitched three consecutive days, so expect him to get the day off on Tuesday. 6 PC-4 ST (7/8/13) (MR) Matt Guerrier (R)--Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Simon threw only two pitches in the appearance, forcing the only batter he faced to fly out. 2 PC-1 ST (7/6/13) Injured--Sean Marshall  (Shoulder), Jonathan Broxton (Elbow)Colorado Rockies(CL) Solid Rafael Betancourt (R)--Recorded his 12th save of the season Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit and one walk on 21 pitches thrown. Betancourt has been used sparingly since returning from the disabled list, but appears to be healthy enough to see an increase in his workload. 21 PC-12 ST (7/8/13) (SU) Rex Brothers (L)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season Monday after recording the final out of the seventh inning. Brothers only threw seven pitches, so the fact he has now pitched back-to-back days should not effect his status for Tuesday. 7 PC-5 ST (7/8/13) (MR) Wilton Lopez (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night allowing one hit on 11 pitches thrown. Lopez has now pitched two of the last three days, so there is a chance he will be given the day off on Saturday. 11 PC-7 ST (7/5/13)Los Angeles Dodgers(CL) Solid Kenley Jansen (R)–Collected his ninth save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit on 17 pitches thrown. Lyon has been very inconsistent over the course of the season, but considering the other options in the Mets bullpen, it is hard to see him being moved out of the setup role anytime soon. 25 PC-16 ST (7/4/13) (MR) LaTroy Hawkins (R)--Pitched two innings of relief on Saturday night allowing one run on one hit and two walks needing 34 pitches to make it through the appearance.
