Week 9 of the season is here, you knew that already. So let me get to the reason you're stopping by. Which NFC players stand out for the coming slew of games? So glad you asked.BYE: New England, NY Jets, St. Louis, San FranciscoMiles Austin update. In nine of his last 11 contests he has scored or gone over 100 yards for the Cowboys.Ahmad Bradshaw likes facing clubs from the other conference. The last four times he has faced the AFC he has run for 408 yards while scoring six times. He'll be hard pressed to keep up that pace against the Steelers who are allowing 91.6 yards a game on the ground and 0.57 rushing scores a week.Chris Clemens has 13 sacks in his past 15 games, and the last time he faced the Vikings he racked up two sacks.Randall Cobb has four TD receptions in his past four games. During that time he is the #4 wide receiver in fantasy football in a PPR setup.Marques Colston has scored five times while garnering 30 receptions and 420 yards over his past four games.Larry Fitzgerald has scored three times in two career meetings with the Packers. The Pack have allowed seven passing scores in eight games to wide receivers.Matt Forte had 126 yards from scrimmage an a score the last time he faced the Titans. Over his last three games this season he's produced an average of 107 yards on 23 touches.Josh Freeman is the first QB in Bucs history to throw three passing scores in 3-straight games (he also given up just one interception in those three contests). He takes on a beatable Raiders pass defense that is allowing 246 yards a game and 12 passing scores in seven games.Vincent Jackson has four TDs in his last five games. Running mate Mike Williams has either a TD or 100 yards receiving in five of seven games this season.Tim Jennings just keeps intercepting passes with seven in his last eight games. The Bears as a unit have six interception returns for scores, the most in league history through seven games.Jimmy Graham is healthy and back to being a must start in all leagues. He's scored in seven of his last nine games.Alex Green hopes for a 5th straight game with 60 yards from scrimmage â not that he should be proud of that mark or anything. He's also failed to run the ball for more than 65 yards in each of the past three weeks despite racking up at least 20 carries each week. James Starks should see his role increase.Marshawn Lynch has run for 85 yards in 15 of his past 17 games. The Vikes are allowing just under 108 rushing yards a game this season.Doug Martin is the NFL's Offensive Player of the Month after averaging 155.7 yards from scrimmage in October, the most in football. The Cardinals though have allowed only four rushing scores this season.LeSean McCoy has scored seven times in his last seven games against an NFC opponent while averaging 109 yards from scrimmage. This season the Saints are allowing more fantasy points (PPR) than any defense in the league to runners.Alfred Morris is third in the NFL in rushing yards and he is averaging 91 yards a game over the past five.Santana Moss has five scores in his last six games. Still, he's yet to catch more than four passes in a game, and only once has he gone for 70 yards, plus this; the Panthers have allowed only nine passing scores this season.Cam Newton has run for 11 scores in 11 career games on the road. He also threw for 256 yards and two scores the last time he faced the Redskins. The 'Skins are hideous in pass D (314.3 yards per game), but make sure that Brandon LaFell is out there before you go thinking that Newton will have some massive passing day.Hakeem Nicks has gone for 252 yards an a score in his last two home games. Victor Cruz has scored six times in his last five games overall.
What a surprise... Aaron Rodgers dominates the Cardinals. In two career meetings he's thrown for 658 yards and five touchdowns.Tony Romo has faced the Falcons twice in his career throwing for 589 yards and five scores.
When Matt Ryan has a QB Rating of 100 or better the Falcons are 28-0. He faces a Cowboys pass defense that has been really tough this week. The 'Boys are third in the league allowing a mere 187.7 passing yards, and they are tied for the league lead with just six passing scores allowed (Bears, Niners).
With 52 yards passing Matthew Stafford will reach 10,000 yards in the second fewest games in league history (Kurt Warner). Stafford has thrown for an average of 301.1 yards a game this season, third in the NFL (Drew Brees 330 and Peyton Manning 301.9).Steve Smith has caught at least five passes each of the last three times he has faced the Redskins, and as noted above, the Redskins are woefully inept at stopping the passing game.Jonathan Stewart has run for a score the last two times he has faced the Redskins. This season the Redskins have allowed only five scores on the ground in eight games while holding opponent to 92.1 yards a game rushing.Blair Walsh, you know the rookie kicker of the Vikings, has hit 17 of 18 field goals this season with four over 50 yards. He's got a tough matchup those as the Seahawks are allowing the 12th fewest points to kickers this year.Daryl Washington has two sacks in each of his last two games and now gets to face a Packers team that we all know has had trouble at times holding off pass rushers.Russell Wilson hasn't been very good during his rookie season. However, be prepared to have your socks blown off. If you haven't been looking at the leader board of late you may have missed that Wilson has thrown for more passing scores (10) than fellow rookies Andrew Luck (eight) and Robert Griffin III (eight).Jason Witten caught 18 passes last week, the most by a tight end in league history. Over his last four games his average effort has been 11 receptions and 103 yards.Michael Vick has 12 scores in seven career starts against the Saints. The Saints are the worst defense in football having allowed at least 400 yards of offense each of their seven games, the first time in the annals of the NFL that a team has opened a season that poorly.Titus Young caught nine balls for 100 yards and two scores last week. He's still dealing with a lower body injury, but he faces a Jaguars team that has given up 159 yards a game to wide receivers and seven scores in seven games.RANDOM START OF THE WEEK(That one player you would never consider starting but for some reason he might be worth a look if you're desperate.)Phillip Tanner, RB, CowboysDeMarco Murray has been ruled out of Week 9 with that lingering foot issue. Felix Jones is dealing with shoulder and knee woes. Of course, when isn't Jones hurt. Jones has also been extremely ineffective the last two games averaging less than 2.5 yards a carry. Hello Philip Tanner who has the look of a guy who could touch the ball 15 times this week against the Giants. The club from NY is just below the middle of the pack at 113 yards a game, but they have allowed only five scores in eight games this season. Tanner is a risk, but if you're trolling for help in the backfield, Tanner isn't the worst option you could turn to.Ray Flowers can be heard daily on Sirius/XM Radio on The Fantasy Drive on Sirius 210 and XM 87, Monday through Thursday at 7 PM EDT and Friday's at 9 PM EDT.
