It's Week 7 of the NFL season. Yesterday I took a look at players in the AFC, so today it's time to take a look at the National Football Conference.Jared Allen has one sack in each of his past four games. He's also posted 4.5 sacks in the last two meetings with the Cardinals. Behind him on the field is linebacker Chad Greenway who has totaled at least nine tackles in the last two matchups with the team from the desert.Miles Austin has a touchdown reception or 100 yards receiving in seven of his last nine outings.Cliff Avril had two sacks last week. He also has five sacks in his last three matchups with the Bears.Ahmad Bradshaw's foot isn't at full strength after 57 carries and 317 rushing yards the past two weeks, but he has scored six times on the ground in his last five contests. The 'Skins have allowed only three scores on the ground this season.Drew Brees has played five games this season. In four of those games he has thrown for 300 yards or three scores. In three of the games he has gone for 300 and three.Marques Colston has gone for 284 yards and four touchdowns the past two games, an in each outing he's caught at least nine balls for 130 yards. The last time he faced the Bucs he caught seven balls for 118 yards an a touchdown. His teammate Lance Moore has a touchdown in two of his last three games against the Buccaneers.Victor Cruz has five scores in three games. In his past seven games of divisional play Cruz has caught 41 balls for 701 yards and five touchdowns. Teammate Hakeem Nicks has caught 50 balls for 801 yards and six scores in his last eight games played. He's also gone for 195 yards on 12 catches the last two times he's faced the Redskins.Fred Davis caught five balls for 105 yards the last time he faced the Giants. In three of his last four games he's caught four, five and seven passes.Early Doucet had a field day the last time he faced the Vikings with eight receptions for 92 yards. He has eight receptions for 51 yards his past three games this season.London Fletcher has forced a fumble and recorded at least nine tackles the last two times he has faced off against the Giants.Matt Forte says he is at 100 percent with the ankle, and his track record against the Lions is significant. In the last four matchups he has scored twice through the air and twice on the ground.Chris Givens has a reception of at least 50-yards each of his last three games for the Rams, and Brandon Gibson is coming off a game of seven receptions and 91 yards. They face a Packers defense that is allowing 230 yards passing a game while allowing 10 touchdowns. The Pack have also intercepted eight passes.Percy Harvin has caught 111 passes since the start of the 2011 season. That is the second highest mark in the NFL. He's gone for at least 100 yards each of the past two weeks.Steven Jackson is ceding work to Daryl Richardson, but he's had a lot of success against the Packers of late. In their last four meetings he's gone for 576 yards from scrimmage including an average of 113 yards a game on the ground.Tim Jennings has five interceptions in his last five games for the Bears. Major Wright has three interceptions in his last three games.Calvin Johnson has a TD in two of the past three games against the Bears, and in his past five games on the road he has scored four times while catching 44 passes for an average of 170 yards per game.James Jones has scored twice in 3-straight games. He and all-time great Don Huston are the only Packers to have ever done that. Jones will have a tough time stretching it out to 4-straight given that the Rams have allowed only four passing scores in six games.Brandon Marshall has caught 19 passes for 282 yards and two scores the past two weeks. This week he squares off against a Lions' defense that has been middle of the proverbial pack against the pass allowing 228 yards and seven passing scores through five games.
When DeMarco Murray plays and gets at least 18 carries the Cowboys are 7-0, and in those games he has averaged 122 rushing yards a contest (he obviously won't play this week). Felix Jones ran for 92 yards last week as he stepped in for the the injured Murray. This week the Cowboys face a Panthers club that is the bottom third of the league allowing 127 rushing yards a game, even if they have allowed just four four rushing scores in five games. However, the Panthers have allowed RBs to haul in 46 passes, the most of any defense in football (as is their 372 yards allowed on receptions to runners).Jason Pierre-Paul has faced the Redskins four times. In those four games he has two forced fumbles, has a fumble recovery, five sacks and 25 tackles. Wow is right. Osi Umenyiora is right behind him as he has five sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumbles recovers in the last two matchups.
The Redskins are the only team in the NFL with two players who have five rushing scores. Robert Griffin III leads all rookies with six rushing scores while Alfred Morris is second with five. They face a Giants club that is middle of the pack in rushing yards allowed (103.2 per game), but as a unit the Giants have allowed only three rushing scores in six games.Adrian Peterson hasn't scored a rushing touchdown in five games. The last time he faced the Cardinals though he ran for 122 yards and three scores.Christian Ponder is second in the NFL with a 68.6 completion percentage, and he's coming off a game in which he threw for 352 yards. This week he faces a Cardinals' club that hasn't had any issues with passers holding him to an average of 216 yards at a mere 53.8 completion percentage this season. It's going to be a touch matchup for the Vikes through the air.Andre Roberts has scored six times in his last 10 games. With John Skelton under center the Cardinals might attack the Vikings more down field opening things up underneath for Roberts to roam. Still, don't get overly excited with Roberts as he's caught only seven passes for 57 yards the past two weeks. Maybe the QB chance will help a tad.Tony Romo is 3-0 in his career versus Carolina. Surprisingly, he has thrown for only two scores while averaging 261 passing yards in those games.O'Brien Schofield had two sacks last week and he has four sacks in his past four games. Teammate Daryl Washington has a sack in five of his last seven games while Sam Acho has a sack in five of eight contests for the Cardinals.John Skelton has gone 8-4 in his career (pretty impressive no?). He faces a Vikings club in Week 7 that hasn't been great against the pass this season as QBs are currently posting the 9th most fantasy points against the club from Minnesota.Steve Smith has two games in his career with 130 yards and a score against the Cowboys. However, he's yet to score a touchdown this season and is averaging 77.6 yards receiving per game including just 92 yards in his last two outings.Matthew Stafford isn't someone a lot of people are very high on right now which is odd since he is coming off a 5,000 yard, 40 score season. He's also thrown for at least 300 yards each of his past two games and is averaging 299 passing yards a contest this season.DeAngelo Williams and Jim Brown. What? Did you know that DWill and Brown are the only backs in NFL history with 1,000 carries and a per carry mark of at least 5.0? Williams has average 5.0 YPC in 1,044 attempts. The Cowboys are allowing just 103.6 yards per game this season on the ground.Mike Williams has a touchdown or has gone for 100 yards in four of his five games this season (he's gone for 100 yards in each of his last two games). However, he's also caught only 15 passes in five contests and three times in five games he's failed to go for 60 yards (twice he has failed to reach 35 yards).Jason Witten caught nine balls for 77 yards in his last game against the Panthers. The last two weeks Witten has caught 19 balls for 200 yards. The Panthers have been middle of the pack this year in defending tight ends.RANDOM START OF THE WEEK(That one player you would never consider starting but for some reason he might be worth a look if you're desperate.)Josh Freeman, QB, BuccaneersFreeman is is an option this week with Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, Philip Rivers, Ryan Tannehill and someone from the Chiefs on a Bye. Josh had a big Week 6 with 328 yards passing and three touchdowns against the Chiefs. This week he takes on a Saints team that he has gone 3-straight against without an interception, and a unit that has been brutalized by the pass as they have allowed the fifth most points to the quarterback this season.Ray Flowers can be heard daily on Sirius/XM Radio on The Fantasy Drive on Sirius 210 and XM 87, Monday through Thursday at 7 PM EDT and Friday's at 9 PM EDT.
