Week 5 of the NFL season is upon us so it's time to take a look at the players you should be focusing on for the coming battles among players who suit up for NFC clubs.BYES: Cowboys, Lions, Raiders and BuccaneersJason Babin has 10.5 sacks in his last nine games on the gridiron.Martellus Bennett has a score in three of his first four games with the Giants. The Browns have, surprisingly, allowed only once score to a tight end so far this year.Ahmad Bradshaw loves facing an AFC opponent. For whatever reason, he dominates them. In his past 10 games against the AFC he has scored 10 times while producing 981 yards from scrimmage. The last time Drew Brees faced his former team he threw for 339 yards and three scores. He has a TD pass in 47-straight games tying Johnny Unitas' all-time mark.Marques Colston has four scores in his past three games against the AFC and nine in his last 10 games. The Chargers have permitted four passing scores to the wide receiver this season.Charles Johnson had 3.5 sacks last week. He has 20.5 sacks in his last 26 games. He had a sack the last time he faced the Seahawks.Fred Davis has gone for 70-yards each of his last two games. The Falcons are allowing an average of 55 yards a game to the tight end position. Don't worry about Vernon Davis' and his down performance last week. The guy still has eight scores in his last six games. He does face a Bills team that had allowed the tight end to reach pay dirt only once this season even if they are ranked 16th against the tight end in fantasy points.Tony Gonzalez is the leading point getter in a PPR setup this season at the tight end position. The Ravens though are middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed and have blocked the tight end from scoring through four games.Jimmy Graham has a score in six of seven games. The Chargers have allowed only one score to the tight end this season.Chad Greenway had 11 tackles the last time he faced the Titans. In Week 4 he had 11 tackles against the Lions an in Week 3 he had 13 tackles against the 49ers.Tim Jennings has five interceptions in his last five games. He faces Blaine Gabbert who has only one interception this year, even if his overall performance hasn't exactly been exciting.James Jones had two touchdowns last week and with Greg Jennings out with a groin injury Jones figures to have a substantial role in the Packers offense. Jones faces a Colts club that has been beaten down through the air as the Colts are the 6th worst pass defense in terms of fantasy points allowed to the WR.Julio Jones underperformed last week, and it had something to do with his hand and the matchup. Expect his fortunes to change this week. Jones has scored in 5-straight road contests and he's gone for eight scores and 919 yards in nine career games away from his home field.Marshawn Lynch has run for 85 yards in 12 of his last 13 starts. He's also run for a score each of the last two times he has faced the Panthers including three scores in their last meeting.Jeremy Maclin was a disappointment last week as he did nothing, though he was on the field for more than 90 percent of the plays. He will try to extend a streak that has seen him score a touchdown or go for 100 yards in four of his last five contests (the only time he missed out was Week 4).Eli Manning has won 7-straight games against the AFC (he faces the Browns this week). He's also thrown for at least 200-yards in 23-straight starts, the second longest streak in NFL history. The dilapidated Browns pass defense is allowing 286 yards passing a game while they have also allowed nine passing scores.Brandon Marshall has had two successful outings against the Jaguars that have resulted in 16 receptions and 231 yards. He's also coming off a game in which he caught seven balls for 138 yards an a score.LeSean McCoy faces a Steelers club that is allowing 101.2 yards a game on the ground while they have permitted two rushing scores. Can McCoy do his normal thing this weekend given that he's dominated the AFC during his career to the tune of 10 touchdowns in his past seven games against an AFC opponent?Adrian Peterson rushed for two scores in Week 1 and he hasn't found the end zone since. He faces a Titans club this week that he ran for two scores against the last time they squared off. In 20 games against AFC opponents he also has 22 touchdowns.Christian Ponder is the only quarterback in football who has thrown 25 passes and has yet to be intercepted (Ponder has tossed the pigskin 123 times). The Titans pass defense so far this year has been terrible as they have allowed an average of 285 yards passing a game while permitting 10 touchdown passes while grabbing only one pick. The Redskins are the first team in NFL history to have two rookies with four rushing scores through four weeks: Alfred Morris and Robert Griffin III. The Falcons are allowing the fourth most yards per game on the ground – 150.3 – as they have also allowed the second most rushing scores in football (six).Aaron Rodgers a failure thus far? Hardly. Rodgers lead the NFL with a 69.9 completion percentage and is on pace for 4,200 yards and 28 scores. He's reached those last two numbers only twice in his four years as a starter and the completion percentage would be a career best in a season in which he tossed more than 28 passes. Time to reset those expectations.Aldon Smith of the Niners has 18.5 sacks over his last 17 games.James Stewart went for 92 yards an a score the last time he faced the Seahawks while DeAngelo Williams also had a 35 yard TD run. This season the Seahawks are the second toughest run defense in the league allowing 62.8 yards a game and just two rushing scores through four games.Michael Turner had 166 rushing yards and two scores the last time he faced the Redskins. He ran for 103 yards last week and had a 60 yard TD reception.Russell Wilson has failed to throw for even 165 yards in a single game this season. So much for that great preseason.RANDOM START OF THE WEEK(That one player you would never consider starting but for some reason he might be worth a look if you're desperate.)Devery Henderson, WR, SaintsWith Lance Moore almost certainly out for Week 5 with a hamstring issue, an injury that helped to keep him out of action in the playoffs last year, there is room for someone to step up in this offense. Marques Colston is rounding back into shape, and Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles will obviously be involved. but how about Henderson for a bit of an out of nowhere option in Week 5? Henderson has only six grabs for 74 yards through three games but you know the Saints aren't going to stop passing the football especially against a Chargers club that is middle of the pack this season in pass defense (237 yards a game, five passing scores).
