We understand the waiver-wire hasn’t been the best lately, especially in leagues with more than 10 teams. However, there are a lot of options that are finding their stroke or bursting onto the scene on the mound that are more than viable for the remainder of the season.

10-team leagues

Javier Baez, CHI 2B, 3B, SS (79% ownership), FAAB Bid - $22 We know he’s 79-percent owned on Yahoo, but now is the time to make sure you’re not in the 21-percent that doesn’t own him. Baez has had a great month of May, hitting .311 and belting six homers. His wOBA in April was just .233, but in May it ballooned to .378. His multi-position eligibility and ability to hit with the best of ‘em when he’s hot makes him viable in all formats under the sun.

Justin Bour, MIA 1B (49% ownership), FAAB Bid - $20 It’s all coming together for the 28-year old who’s finally healthy and has mashed nine homers over his last 14 games. What may be most impressive about this recent surge is how well he’s hit southpaws this season. He’s a career .248 hitter against them, but 2017 has been a different story as he’s posted a .324 AVG. Bour is tied for fifth in home runs and 11th in RBI amongst all NL hitters. As long as his long injury track record doesn’t show it’s ugly head, he’s in line for a career year

Brad Hand. RP SD (27% ownership), FAAB Bid - $19 We’re going to overpay for a closer in this spot. Water is wet. Hand has money since the start of the 2016 campaign and we have a hard time believing he’s going to relinquish his job going forward. He’s been flat out DOMINANT versus left-handed hitting, as LHH have a .126 AVG, .240 OBP and a .185 BABIP. He has an 11.9 K/9 mark too, so get to your waiver wires yesterday and pick this man up!!

Zack Godley, ARI SP, RP (37% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15 We cannot believe this is real life. The 27-year old has been lights out over the 31.2 innings he’s twirled and the numbers don’t exactly scream “regression” either. His FIP comes in at 3.24 after another six scoreless innings on Friday evening. He’s only allowing 27-percent hard contact on the year and opposing hitters have posted a .254 wOBA against him on the year. What more can we say? We didn’t want to wake up from this bad dream but here we are. He’s also eligible as a RP, so need we say more?

12-team leagues

Didi Gregorius, NYY SS (38% ownership), FAAB Bid - $11 Since coming off of the disabled list, the Yankees shortstop has been on fire at the dish. He’s hitting a cool .323 at the dish while posting an OPS north of .800. His wOBA sits at .347 for the year, which is light-years above his .309 career mark. The power is really what grabs our attention, as his 20-homer season from a year ago isn’t fluky at all. With shortstop so top heavy, you’re more than likely without one of the top 5 in the league. That means someone like Gregorius will fit in perfectly for your team going forward.

Lucas Duda, NYM 1B (7% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8-10 Duda wasn’t hitting a lick when he originally came off of the DL this season, but his bat has since woken up. He has three multi-hit contests in his last four games, has seven RBI and the one game in which he didn’t collect any hits, he walked three times. Over the last seven days specifically, he’s tied for first in the majors with a .400 well-hit average.

15-team leagues

Andrelton Simmons, ATL SS (10% ownership), FAAB Bid - $3 We profile Simmons as a glove and then move on to the next player we’re planning on talking about, but his bat is coming along trying to change that narrative. His average continues to creep up thanks to a .464 road AVG over the previous two weeks. He’ll give you a home run over here, and a stolen base over there, but right now he’s just a stable contact hitter your roster could use.

Lucas Giolito, CWS SP (7% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7 Giolito is someone worth noting because of his recent success over his last three MiLB starts, but even more than that what Jose Berrios is doing. Berrios and Giolito were in similar boats after both received a shellacking every time they blessed an MLB mound last year. That said, we know the 360 Berrios has had in a year so maybe there is a silver lining for the young righty. Like we mentioned above, Giolito has been good over his last three starts. His latest outing saw him twirl seven no-hit innings. He’s worth the stash as we could see him later in the year when the White Sox really begin to fade.
