We have a big 13 game slate on tap tonight with some interesting matchups to chose from. Weather is really only a possible issue in two spots tonight with the Red Sox and Blue Jays contending with rain as well as the Padres and Braves once again dealing with some expected rainfall after last nights contest was postponed due to weather. Lets take a look at today's top plays to take the bump for your DFS lineups tonight.
Top Tier
Aaron Nola, SP PHI - Nola is back on the mound for the Phillies after missing his start before the break due to Covid concerns. He draws a matchup tonight against a Yankees team that is without Aaron Judge and Gio Urshela due to Covid-19. Nola had struggled in his two starts leading into the break but dominated the Yankees in their earlier meeting, tossing 7.2 inning of shutout baseball while striking out nine. The Yankees offense has some power but they also swing and miss a lot and that is what I look to take advantage of here tonight with Nola.
John Means, SP BAL - So, I am always a little concerned with starters that are fresh off the IL but this is a great spot for Means as he draws a Rays team that has the third highest strikeout rate against LHP on the season at 27.1% while also ranking towards the very bottom in average, wOBA and OPS.
Mid Tier
Germán Márquez, SP COL - The fear of Coors is real for many in DFS but this creates a great opportunity to use a pitcher like Marquez who has been fantastic this season and actually better IN Coors than AWAY with a 3.06 home ERA vs a 3.89 road ERA. The Mariners offense is easily exploitable and Marquez has some real solid upside. He faced the Mariners earlier this year and nearly tossed a no-hitter against them, ultimately settling for eight innings of two hit baseball while striking out seven.
Wade Miley, SP CIN - Miley must be drinking his “secret stuff” this season as the veteran southpaw posted a 2.80 ERA while going 7-4 during the first half of the season. The Mets this season rank 20th in average, 22nd in wOBA and 22nd in OPS against LHP this season.
Value Tier
Tarik Skubal, DET - I like the strikeout upside that Skubal brings to the table in GPPs as the Tigers lefty has 105 strikeouts over 88.2 innings this season. The Rangers are also a team that is sub-par against LHP, sitting in the bottom half of the league in average, wOBA and OPS.
