League of Legends DFS Playbook: LEC July 29
League of Legends European Championship
Summer Split / July 29th, 2022
The LEC is entering their sixth week of play and only seven games separate teams from either a chance at postseason glory or heading into the offseason early. The MAD Lions and Rogue sit atop the league with a record of eight wins and three losses a piece. Both rosters had made significant changes to their rosters at the beginning of 2022 and MAD continuing to tinker coming into the Summer Split. Their adjustments seem to be making a significant difference as long standing teams like Misfits and Fnatic are standing on the wrong side of the playoff cutoff and need as many wins as possible. Let’s dive in!

- (-170) MAD Lions v Fnatic (+130)
League of Legends DFS Fantasy Breakdown
Game #1: SK Gaming v Astralis
Game Breakdown: I was personally shocked at how close the line is set here. While one game separates SK and Astralis in the standings, the quality of play and output from their players is dramatically different. Astralis does something that SK struggles to do and that is find ways to secure early leads. Admittedly, Astralis is not the most consistent with how well they secure that lead but they have the capability to do it. SK seemingly needs a lot of late game set up and some help from opposing teams to throw their leads. I don’t lose the hot and cold nature of Astralis but I do trust the quality of their players.
Favorite Picks: Kobbe (AST: $11,400/$7,600), Dajor (AST: $10,800/$7,200), Xerxe (AST: $7,000)
Value Picks: JNX (SK: $5,800), SK Gaming ($4,600)
Cann’s Match Pick: Astralis
Game #2: Team Vitality v Excel Esports
Game Breakdown: The trends of VIT in the regular season is to secure wins against bad teams and occasionally steal wins off of the good teams. This “do enough” approach is ok in theory but we see that with the poor play of Carzzy and the lack of carrying out of Perkz and Alphari, this team just seems like they want out of this season. Excel, on the other hand, look to be finding new ways to play the game together and the organization looks to be taking their LEC spot seriously. Most XL players feel like they have settled into a role on the team and I think that is an understated value for a squad of players. Not only to know your role but to play out your role is huge and I think XL find a win the game through good team play.
Favorite Picks: Patrik (XL: $10,800/$7,200), Macaron (XL: $6,600), Mikyx (XL: $5,400)
Value Picks: Perkz (VIT: $9,600/$6,400), Alphari (VIT: $5,600)
Cann’s Match Pick: Excel Esports
Game #3: Rogue v Misfits
Game Breakdown: This match wasn’t listed as close of a matchup and I think there is space for it to be. Misfits are below the playoff line, but we have seen some more collective play out of them and play that is not solely focused on Vetheo carrying the team. I will note that Comp (Rogue ADC) and Larssen (Rogue Mid) have had a great split, outputting huge damage for their team. I believe the difference will be Rogue’s jungler, Malrang. Malrang has driven the pace of the early game for Rogue and Misfits’ new jungler (Zanzarah) will have a hard time navigating his team through the early game.
Favorite Picks: Comp (RGE: $11,700/$7,800), Larssen (RGE: $7,800), Malrang (RGE: $6,400),
Value Picks: Vetheo (MSF: $9,900/$6,600), Irrelevant (MSF: $5,200), Mersa (MSF: $4,400)
Cann’s Match Pick: Rogue
Game #4: Team BDS v G2 Esports
Game Breakdown: While this feels like a classic trap game for a G2 team, they should run away with this game. What makes me fade most of these players is the massive pricetags associated with them. All of the main carries for G2 (BrokenBlade, Caps, Flakked) have had times where they put up huge numbers but then other games where they disappear with minimal points. BDS has really struggled to get players like xMatty and NUCLEARINT online but they get caught in rotations and poorly executed team fights.
Favorite Picks: Caps (G2: $12,000/$8,000), BrokenBlade (G2: $7,200), Jankos (G2: $7,600), Targamas (G2: $6,400)
Value Picks: Team BDS ($3,600), Agresivoo (BDS: $5,000)
Cann’s Match Pick: G2 Esports
Game #5: MAD Lions v Fnatic
Game Breakdown: This game should be pretty entertaining and bring some big points for the winner. Both teams will lean into the more aggressive playstyle. This playstyle will get the junglers and supports around the map and finding lanes to generate kills in. What makes me like Fnatic here is not only the fact that they are desperate but their ADC (Upset) plays so well in a weak lane state. This means that his support (Hylissang) can move with Razork to help Humanoid and Wunder win their lanes without sacrificing too much in the bottom lane. Watch out for Nisqy’s ability to move around the map though, which is one of his biggest contributions to this team.
Favorite Picks: Nisqy (MAD: $11,100/$7,400), Armut (MAD: $6,800), Elyoya (MAD: $7,200)
Value Picks: Humanoid (FNC: $9,300/$6,200), Upset (FNC: $7,000), Fnatic ($4,200)
Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic
