The Fantasy Golf regular season is over which means it is time for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.  It’s that special time of year when the PGA Tour tries to make us care about something that the players wouldn’t care about if there wasn’t a $10 Million Dollar prize to the winner.  That’s a huge chunk of change and a nice way to cap off the season.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs begins with the Barclays and what better course to kick things off than “Bethpage Black” or as it is formally known as Bethpage State Park’s Black Course.  Bethpage Black is a par 71 that stretches out 7,468 yards.  This huge track played host to the 2009 U.S. Open and then the 2012 Barclays.  Nick Watney took home the title in 2012 after finishing T15 in fairways hit, T3 in greens in regulation and third in proximity to the hole.  He also ranked 20th in strokes gained: putting.  I mention this because those are the stats that I targeted this week when picking out my players for the playbook.

The weather this weekend does not look like it will be an issue with daytime temperatures in the mid-80s and just a small threat of rain on Friday and Saturday.

Being that these players had to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, there are only 121 players in the field this week.  The Top 70 plus ties after 36-holes will make the cut and play over the weekend.

Note to everyone looking at my playbook and wondering why they don’t see Jason Day listed.  If you play the man, go for it, he is the bestin the world for a reason.  I just personally did not like the idea of paying that hefty of a price for someone who has not played since the PGA Championship, nearly a month ago.  Day could easily go out there and crush me, but I’d rather take the chance that he doesn’t.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes last week, it was much appreciated.  Things have settled down at home and that’s why I was able to properly put together optimal lineups for this week’s tournament.

We wrap things up as always with our spiritual guide Paige, who gave us much better luck at the Wyndham Championship.  She is still out there grinding away trying to earn a LPGA tour card.

Good Luck to everyone out there!
