Now, let's jump into the CFB DFS top plays and lineup picks for College Football Week 4.

Before we dive into this Week 4 slate, be sure to know how the DraftKings and FanDuel slates differ. DraftKings has a main slate consisting of games in the Saturday afternoon block including the 12 pm ET games through the late afternoon. However, FanDuel does things differently with an all-day main slate beginning early and including some night games starting at 7 pm ET and later. This makes lineup strategy very different for the early games whether you're playing on FD or DK. In this playbook, we will mostly focus on the top plays for the DraftKings early main slate. There will be some players that are also on the main FD slate but be sure to check out my night slate playbook for more top plays on the FD side of things. Without further ado, let's get into the CFB DFS top plays for Saturday's College Football Week 4 afternoon matchups.

CFB DFS QUARTERBACKS

Jalon Daniels (KU) vs. DUKE ($7.9K DK/$11.2K FD)

Daniels is the leader of the most efficient offense in the nation. KU is scoring 53 PPG and if Houston could not stop Daniels, I’m pretty sure that Duke will not be able to. At the moment this is the best QB in the Big 12 and against Houston he passed for only 157 yards, but he added another 123 yards on the ground. He passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two more. He now has 10 total touchdowns on the season and is the real deal with enormous upside.

Drake Maye (UNC) vs. ND ($6.9K DK)

Big game for UNC and a win would put them at 4-0 and probably ranked in the polls. In just three games as a starter, Maye has risen to college football stardom and thrown his name into the hat for early Heisman talk. Before UNC's bye week, the redshirt freshman led the nation in passing yards (930) and passing touchdowns (11) while throwing just one interception.

J.J. McCarthy (MICH) vs. MD ($9.1K DK/$9.1K FD)

No more starting QB debate as McCarthy put an end to that talk since he has been close to perfect throughout the first three weeks completing an amazing 88.4% of his passes for 13.9 yards per attempt with four touchdowns and zero turnovers which comes out to a 148.2 NFL QB rating. He has also carried the ball seven times for 73 yards and another score and is PFF’s second-highest rated QB in the FBS. McCarthy should see a bump in his passing volume as the Wolverines enter their Big Ten opener as 17-point favorites at home against Maryland. With a 40.75 team implied total and facing a pass defense that is allowing 273.7 passing yard per game McCarthy could nuke the slate in tournaments.

Max Duggan (TCU) @ SMU ($7.1K DK/$9.5K FD)

It’s the Iron Skillet game and if the TCU offensive line can protect Duggan, we could see quite a bit of success in this Sonny Dykes offense. He is projected to score high in this game (25-27 DKFP) and Duggan does has the highest QBR rating among P5 quarterbacks after his five-touchdown game against Tarleton. This is a fantastic running QB and did throw for 276 yards and three TDs in this matchup last season.  SMU also has a poor defense against the run (177.0 yards allowed per game on the ground) which should open lanes for Duggan and a path to hit value, especially with a 36.50 team total.

Other QB’s to Consider:

Anthony Richardson – UF ($6.8K DK/$8.8K FD) Left a bad taste after last week’s disaster against USF but could nuke the slate

Cameron Ward – WSU ($5.0K DK/$9.0K FD)

Robby Ashford – AUB ($5.0K DK/$6.5K FD) My favorite QB punt on the slate on both sites and I will be taking a shot in some lineups- dynamic QB Cash/GPP

Herndon Hooker- TENN ($8.1K DK/$10.8K FD)

Riley Leonard- DUKE ($6.0K DK/$9.8K FD) Love the game environment and will have a few QB game stacks here- At this price will see ownership in Cash/GPP

Tanner Mordecai- SMU ($7.8K DK/$11.0K FD)

CFB DFS RUNNING BACKS

Bijan Robinson (UT) @TTU ($8.3K DK)

Bijan is one of the best runners in the entire country. Last week he smoked UTSA for 183 yards rushing and 3 TDs for 30.1 FP with QB Quinn Ewers out.  While Ewers did travel with the team this weekend you can assume that he will be out at least one more week and that should mean that the Longhorns will be relying on Robinson again versus Texas Tech. The Red Raiders’ defense will keep this game closer than UTSA did so we should get a full game of stats out of Robinson and his Texas teammates this week.

Blake Corum (MICH) vs. UMD ($7.9K DK/$89.8K FD)

Corum touched the ball just 12 times last week against UCONN- the same average that he had over the first two games and finished with 71 yards. He only recorded one run of more than 12 yards but scored five times – a career high and tied a school record with Ron Johnson (1968) and Hassan Haskins (2021). Donovan Edwards is questionable and unlikely to play this week making Corum a viable play in all formats as the lone runner in the backfield.

UPDATE: Donovan Edwards is ruled OUT= upgrade to Corum

Will Shipley (CLEM) @ WAKE ($6.7K DK/$9.4K FD)

Shipley is part of a three-headed monster rushing attack, but this could be the week that the beast is fully unleashed. The first three wins have been by blowout, so Shipley has stayed fresh splitting reps with Phil Mafah and Kobe Pace and his 12 carries last week were the most for any of the three backs this season as he had 139 yards and two touchdowns. Shipley ranks sixth in the ACC with 249 rushing yards with an average of 7.8 per carry, better than anyone in the league with more than 10 attempts. He is also the first Clemson back with multiple touchdowns in each of the season’s first three games since 1950 so buckle up as he faces a Wake Forest defense that allowed over 400 yards last week against Liberty and with almost 200 coming on the ground.

Jirehl Brock (ISU) vs. BAY ($4.9K DK)

Brock spent three years as Breece Hall’s backup has been an extremely solid replacement for the star back this season. Breece Hall in the Iowa State backfield. Through three games, he has 333 total yards and is fourth in the conference with 280 rushing yards and a touchdown- and this is a guy that hit the century mark against a tough Iowa defense. $4.9K is too cheap for a RB1 and the assumption is that the price is so low due to his seven carries last week (Ohio) – but he was not needed. It’s more important to look at the 27 carries/100 yards and five receptions against Iowa in Week 2.  Baylor is limiting ball carriers to only 2.83 YPC (28th-fewest) but the $4.9K price keeps Brock in play.

Richard Reese (BAY) @ ISU ($3.0K DK)

Freshman running back Reese had a breakout performance in BU’s 42-7 win over Texas State last weekend, rushing for 156 yards and three touchdowns. He was replacing injured RB Taye McWilliams who is out again this week and after three weeks of play, Reese is now tied for the Big 12 lead with five rushing touchdowns, plus is second in yards per carry (6.97) and fifth in total rushing yards (237). He also ranks second nationally among freshmen in rushing TDs (five) and fourth in rushing yards (237). ISU is a much tougher matchup than Texas State but a RB1 at $3.0K is a free square even if he gets spelled by fellow back Craig Williams at times.

Other RBs to Consider:

Mohammed Ibrahim - MINN ($9.6K DK/$11.2K FD) Always in play and can win a GPP but price and matchup are tough

Nicholas Singleton- PSU ($6.4K DK) Have been praising this kid all summer- he is special and will be in on of my three main LUs

Tank Bigsby- AUB ($6.0K DK/$6.9K FD)

Charles McClelland- CINCY ($6.1K DK) Priced up but great matchup

Lew Nichols- CMU ($6.8K DK) GPP

Chris Tyree- ND ($5.6K DK/$6.1K FD) Awesome matchup against a bad UNC defense- if he gets 15 carries- watch out!

Tahj Brooks- TTU ($5.4K DK/$6.6K FD) 4 TDs on the season plus seeing targets

Tre Siggers- SMU ($5.9K DK/$6.7K FD) Low-cost way to get exposure to 70.5 game total

Cody Schrader- MIZZ ($3.5K DK/$5.8K FD)

Nakia Watson- WSU ($4.6K DK/$7.3K FD) Watson improves every week and ORE defense is suspect

CFB DFS WIDE RECEIVERS

Rashee Rice (SMU) vs. TCU ($8.6K DK/$10.2K FD)

After it was all said and done Saturday night Rashee Rice walked off the field as the nation’s leading receiver. Through three games, he has 28 receptions for 491 yards and three touchdowns and put on a dominating performance in their 34-27 loss at Maryland with a career-high 11 receptions and 193 and receiving yards (193). He was targeted 20 times — more than a third of quarterback Tanner Mordecai’s pass attempts. This is a one-trick pony offense but most of Rice’s catches have not come without a defender glued to his hip and I would not expect much more from TCU than we got from the Maryland defense.

Xavier Hutchinson (ISU) vs. BAY ($6.7K DK)

The biggest weakness in the Baylor defense is defending the pass. They have allowed the 50th-most passing YPG and 66th-most passing YPA and Hutchinson is the unquestioned Alpha of the ISU receiving corps with a 37% team target share and tied for second I the nation with 28 receptions. It’s a nice matchup for a receiver that has 16 more catches than anyone else on the team through three games and he has already scored five times. Oh, and don’t forget that he produced an 11-98-1 receiving line on 19 targets against the third-best pass defense in the nation (Iowa).

Jalin Hyatt (TENN) vs. UF ($6.8K DK/$7.5K FD)

The loss of Velus Jones Jr to the NFL left a big receiving void for Tennessee to fill.  Many thought that Brue McCoy, the USC transfer would take over, but it has been junior Jalin Hyatt who has become the guy and dominated on the outside. Over his first two seasons, Hyatt had 41 catches for 502 yards and four touchdowns but this year he will surpass all of that as he already has 17 catches for 244 and three touchdowns in only three games. Hyatt is tied for Tennessee’s lead in receptions (18) and touchdowns as he and Cedric Tillman Jr have combined to make a dominating duo for Hendon Hooker to throw to.

UPDATE: Cedrc Tillman is OUT- upgrade Hyatt and Brue McCoy

Donovan Ollie (WSU) vs. ORE ($3.5K DK/$7.6K FD)

Total misprice on Ollie here who has been solid for Washington State over his first three games as he leads the team with 30 targets, 19 receptions, 183 yards, and 2 TDs. He may end up the highest owned cash play of the slate, but this is chalk that you eat after seeing his 7-82-2 game against Colorado State. My favorite value play of the entire slate.

Other Top WRs to Consider:

Xavier Worthy – TEX ($6.3K DK/$7.6K FD)

Quentin Johnson- TCU ($7.6K DK/$8.1K FD) One of my fav GPP plays

John Calhoun- DUKE ($6.1K DK/$6.6K FD)

AT Perry- WAKE ($7.0K DK/$7.7K FD)

Luther Burden III- MIZZ ($5.6K DK/$5.8K FD) Should be playing catch up

Michael Mayer – ND $5.9K DK/$7.0K FD)

Bru McCoy- TENN ($5.0K DK/$5.7K FD)

Jerand Bradley- TTU ($4.0K DK/$5.6K FD)

Roman Wilson- MICH ($3.9K DK/$6.6K FD) Leads MICH WRs in scoring (14.4/13.4) GPP play

Cam Camper – IU ($5.6K DK) possession receiver will see plenty of action against Cincy defense

Dylan Wright- MINN ($3.5K DK/$5.6K FD) will pick up targets with CAB out- most capable of reproducing CABs production

Brevyn Spann- Ford – MINN ($3.5K DK/$5.1K FD) CAB loss opens a ton of targets; Spann-Ford will get a piece but Wright would be my first choice
