College Football PrizePicks CFB Player Props – Week 2 Saturday

Jaren Hall (BYU) – OVER 1.5 Pass TDs

Jaren Hall is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in college football. This is a guy that very well could be playing on Sundays in a couple of years and he never gets mentioned among the top NFL Draft QB prospects. This matchup against Baylor may seem tough on paper, but Hall threw for 342 yards against this defense last season. Now he gets a rematch at home and should be motivated to put on a show after BYU came up short in 2021. Hall threw at least two touchdowns in seven of 10 games last year and had two passing scores in Week 1 of this season. The slight worry, though, is the availability of BYU's top receivers. Both Gunner Romney and Puka Nacua are reportedly game-time decisions and they would boost Hall's upside if playing. Either way, Hall is talented enough to make do without them and hit this over.

Roman Hemby (Maryland) – OVER 64.5 Rush Yards

After winning Maryland's starting running back job in camp, Roman Hemby racked up 114 rushing yards and two TDs in Week 1. Though that production came on just seven carries, including a 70-yard gain, Hemby is still the lead back for the Terps and should see more work this week. Maryland is nearly a four-touchdown favorite over Charlotte and could be leaning on the run in the second half. Normally that blowout risk might mean a starting RB could be out of the game, but Hemby barely played last year and Maryland should look to give him more carries and build the experience before some tougher games this season. Meanwhile, Charlotte's defense has gotten torched on the ground in both of its first two games. The D gave up 118 and 120 rushing yards to the lead backs for FAU and William & Mary, respectively.

Tayvion Robinson (Kentucky) – Over 4.5 Receptions

Shoutout to Pete Cole for pointing this one out in Discord earlier this week. This line is a reception or two too low for Tayvion Robinson and we should jump all over it. The Virginia Tech transfer has become an instant favorite target for Kentucky QB Will Levis and the duo should be connecting often in this conference matchup with Florida. Last week, Robinson had six catches for 136 yards on a team-high eight targets in his debut with the Wildcats. It appears that he's taking over as Levis' favorite receiver now that Wan'Dale Robinson is off to the NFL. If Tayvion continues down the path that Wan'Dale went last season, it should be a high-volume role in the Kentucky offense. Wan'Dale had 104 receptions over 13 games in 2021 and had at least five catches in all but one week. Plus, Tayvion is even more important to the UK attack while lead RB Chris Rodriguez sits out.

JT Daniels (West Virginia) – UNDER -1.5 Rush Yards

We took the under on JT Daniels’ -6.5 rushing yards prop last week and we’re going right back to the well in Week 2. In the loss to Pitt last Thursday, Daniels finished with negative-23 rush yards and was sacked three times. The former USC and Georgia transfer is very much a pocket passer and doesn’t bring any dual-threat ability to the table. Ironically, he scored on a QB sneak last week despite the negative rushing yards total. Believe it or not, Daniels has actually finished negative-1.5 rushing yards or fewer in 19 of his 22 career collegiate games while being sacked a whopping 41 times in those 22 contests. Even though Kansas’ defense is a much easier matchup than Pittsburgh, the numbers tell us to take the under. Plus, the Jayhawks did muster 14 sacks over 12 games last year and then had five sacks in their season opener. Again, sacks count for negative rushing yards in college.

Dorian Singer (Arizona) – OVER 40.5 Receiving Yards

You can also look at Jacob Cowing's props, but Dorian Singer's receiving yards number is too low to ignore here. Arizona's sophomore wideout had six catches for 57 yards last week and looks like he'll be the second-favorite target for transfer QB Jayden de Laura, behind Cowing. Despite playing in only five games last season, Singer went over 40.5 receiving yards in four of those and showed flashes when healthy. Now he has a better quarterback throwing him the ball in de Laura. This Week 2 matchup should result in a ton of offensive possessions for Arizona with the Air Raid offense of Mississippi State on the other side. With that in mind, the Wildcats will likely be throwing a ton as underdogs while trying to keep up with a quick-strike offense.
