Trevor LawrenceCLEMMIA880029.11
Next year’s top overall NFL Draft pick has to be in consideration any time he’s on the slate - but more so this week with a tighter game on tap than Clemson is used to. Normally, it’s tough to pay up for Trevor Lawrence because his DFS ceiling is capped in likely blowout scenarios. Tonight, though, the Tigers are only two-touchdown favorites against a Miami team that will likely keep it close. This makes Lawrence safer for cash games and an even better GPP option. Last week vs. Virginia, the starters played almost the whole game and we saw Lawrence finish with 329 passing yards and three passing scores on 38 attempts with 36 rushing yards added in. His rushing tendency is legit, too, as he already has three rushing scores through three games this year after totaling 563 rushing yards and nine rushing TDs a season ago. Clemson runs a lot of goal-line plays for Lawrence to keep it so when the offense gets into the red zone, there’s a good chance he’s involved in the scoring whether it’s passing or running.
Mac JonesBAMAMISS820026.78
It’s never easy taking over for a first-round talent like Tua Tagovailoa, but Mac Jones has been solid dating back to last season. He’s off to a hot start this year with a 75% completion rate and 6:1 TD:INT ratio through two games. Jones just posted career-high’s in passing yards (435) and TDs thrown (4) last week vs. Texas A&M and he could easily do the same tonight against a questionable Ole Miss defense. The Rebels have allowed 46 PPG and nearly 300 passing yards per outing through the first two weeks and we recently saw Florida’s Kyle Trask go off for 416 yards and six TDs against them. Jones has plenty of NFL-caliber receivers at his disposal with future NFL-ers blocking for him as well (not to mention a future NFL RB behind him). Alabama should have no issue scoring points in a favorable matchup and Jones could definitely replicate his 35 DK points from a week ago. He’s a great cash game play at this price tag.
D'Eriq KingMIACLEM740026.05
DraftKings has really discounted King’s price tag this week as he faces a tough Clemson defense. For comparison, he was $8700 last time out and he’s put up at least 24 DK points in all three games thus far. Yes, we have to expect a little regression in a harder matchup as Clemson’s D is a lot better than King’s last two opponents (Louisville & Florida St). On the flip side, though, the ‘Canes will need their dual-threat QB to make plays in multiple ways if they want any chance to keep it close. We’ve seen glimpses of King’s rushing upside this season (83 yards and a TD in the opener & 65 yards vs. FSU last game) but college football fans know we could easily see him run for 100+ yards and multiple scores in any given night - like he did plenty throughout his time at Houston. Plus, there is a blueprint for success against Clemson for dual-threat QBs - Virginia’s Brennan Armstrong threw for 270 yards and three scores with 89 rushing yards last week as his team played catch-up. King is really affordable for what his upside is and he’s a very attractive GPP option - possibly even cash viable.
Terry WilsonUKMSST720027.85
Who’s up for an SEC clash of offensive styles? The UK offense is a run-heavy attack with Wilson playing a huge role in the rushing production as a dual-threat QB. The Wildcats will find themselves in a high-scoring game with Mississippi State’s Air Raid, quick-strike offense on the other side. This fast-paced, possession-filled matchup should give Wilson an even higher ceiling with him doing a little of everything at the helm of UK’s offense. Case in point: in last week’s 42-41 thriller vs. Ole Miss, Wilson put up 40 DK points thanks to his 129 rushing yards and three rushing scores. This is Wilson in a nutshell and his rushing production makes him more safe for cash games than other QBs in this price range. He makes for a great Super-Flex if you don’t want to go with D’Eriq King.

Also Consider:

  • K.J. Costello - Mississippi State ($8,600) - GPP

  • Matt Corral - Ole Miss ($7,900) - GPP

  • Ian Book - Notre Dame ($7,600) - Cash/GPP

  • Luke Anthony - Louisiana Tech ($6,900) - GPP

Running Backs

Travis EtienneCLEMMIA800024.83
Arguably the best RB in the country is the most expensive on this slate and deservedly so. This high-powered Clemson offense can result in some monster DFS performances for Etienne and we saw exactly that last week. Against Virginia, Etienne put up 38.7 DK points thanks to his 187 total yards and two TDs. We all know how good he is as Clemson’s lead back in the running game, but a good chunk of his production in this young season is coming as a receiver out of the backfield. This type of involvement in the Tigers’ passing attack is something we’ll likely continue to see from Etienne as he’s one of the more proven pass-catchers for QB Trevor Lawrence to trust this season. He’ll continue to have a large share of touches in this offense, especially in closer games like this one.
Najee HarrisBAMAMISS780025.75
Harris has a real shot at being this year’s Heisman winner based solely on his role as Alabama’s lead back, which regularly results in plenty of rushing yards and TD opportunities every week. This has been proven over ‘Bama’s first two games with Harris already reaching the end zone five times in easy wins over Missouri and Texas A&M. He has a monopoly on goal-line touches in this offense and plays alongside a pocket passing QB in Mac Jones who isn’t much of a threat to vulture rushing production or TDs. If the Tide wants to run the ball, Harris is the clear-cut first option without many proven backups challenging him for carries - like he used to do with Damien Harris a couple years ago. The matchup is an ideal one for him, too, as Ole Miss is allowing 302 rushing yards per game and six rushing scores already through two games. It’s easy to see a scenario where Harris outscores Etienne on this slate and he might even be safer for cash games because Etienne has Trevor Lawrence possibly stealing TDs away in the red zone while Harris has virtually no competition in his own backfield.
Kyren WilliamsNDFSU680023.35
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Notre Dame in action, but we can’t forget that Kyren Williams deserves to be considered amongst the top tier RBs on any slate he’s on. DK has fortunately discounted Williams tonight, but he should easily be in the 7-8k range based on his lead back role in ND’s offense. In the Irish opener, he put up 37.5 DK points with his 112 rushing yards, 93 receiving yards and two TDs on 21 total touches. He was the clear-cut workhorse back in a game that Notre Dame only beat Duke by 14 points. Meanwhile, backup RB C’Bo Flemister went off for 100+ rushing yards in a 52-0 blowout win over USF in ND’s other game. We should not overreact to Flemister’s performance in relief of Williams (who was rested with the game in hand) - but clearly DK has reacted with the pricing this week. Williams is still the starting RB on the depth chart while Flemister remains in a backup committee. This matchup vs. Florida State should be an easy win but we’ll see Williams get more touches with the starting offense than the last time out. At this discounted salary, it’s a great buy-low cash game opportunity with upside for a lot more if he’s reaching 30+ DK points again.
Asim RoseUKMSST510015.25
Kentucky will be without RB Kavosiey Smoke in this game (and for the next couple weeks) so we should expect even more work for Rose in the backfield. This Kentucky offense is a run-heavy attack and Rose is one of multiple talented rushers for the Wildcats. Dual-threat QB Terry Wilson is one, and fellow back Chris Rodriguez ($5900) is the other. Rodriguez was the hot hand last game when he ran for 133 yards and two scores on 17 carries after Soke’s injury. However, Rose is the more proven back and he shouldn’t be $800 cheaper than Rodriguez right now. Last season, Rose led all UK RBs in rushing yards (826) and carries (149) and trailed only dual-threat WR-turned-QB Lynn Bowden for the team lead. Plus, his 148 rushing yards through two games this year are still the most among all Wildcat backs and he’s the better pass-catcher than Rodriguez. The only worry for Rose tonight is the tougher matchup vs. a Mississippi State defense that’s been strong against the run this season. Still, the discount is too good to pass-up for a RB who could see 15-20 touches in a high-scoring game.

Also Consider:

  • Cam’Ron Harris - Miami FL ($7,500) - GPP

  • Kylin Hill - Mississippi State ($6,400) - GPP/Fringe Cash

  • Johnny Ford - South Florida ($5,000) - Cash/GPP

  • Kelley Joiner - South Florida ($3,900) - Cash

Wide Receivers

Wide Recievers

Jaylen WaddleBAMAMISS830032.45
Many thought DeVonta Smith would be ‘Bama’s top receiver heading into this season but Waddle has emerged as the DFS stud through the first few two games. Waddle exploded for eight receptions, 134 yards and two scores in the Tide opener and then responded with five catches for 142 yards and a TD last week. When QB Mac Jones took over for Tua Tagovailoa late last season, Waddle looked like his favorite target once the duo got more comfortable with each other. It looks like that has carried over to this season with Waddle putting up numbers comparable to Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs from 2019. Unsurprisingly, he’s now the most expensive WR on this slate and tough to pay for in cash games. In GPP, though, he owns one of the highest ceilings on the slate and would be a great pairing with Jones.
Elijah MooreMISSBAMA720030.45
There will be a ton of receiving talent on the field tonight in this Alabama-Ole Miss matchup - and the Rebels have a stud of their own that’s worth strong consideration in all formats. Moore has reached 10 receptions in both of the first two games and he’s only a couple weeks removed from a whopping 227 receiving yards against Florida. We’re not saying to expect that much production in a tougher test this week, but it’s encouraging that Moore is seeing as much reception volume as he has two games in a row. He’s a clear favorite for QB Matt Corral and he’ll likely see plenty of targets again tonight with Ole Miss trying to keep pace with Alabama on the scoreboard. As much as we want to trust him in cash, he’s only a high-ceiling GPP play on this slate because of the potential for a letdown against ‘Bama’s elite defensive talent.
Brevin JordanMIACLEM600019.07
If it wasn’t for Florida’s Kyle Pitts, then Brevin Jordan might be viewed as the best tight end in college football. Through three games, Jordan leads the Hurricanes in all major receiving categories with his 15 catches, 212 yards and three TDs. He’s basically the #1 receiver in the offense and QB D’Eriq King looks his way often in the red zone. In a tough matchup vs. Clemson, we’ll likely see plenty of targets and receptions for Jordan as King looks for easy completions to keep pace with an efficient Tigers offense on the other side. The 6k price tag is pretty fair and he can be used in cash and GPP tonight. He’s a lot safer than many receivers on this slate and the upside is there for a big statistical game.
DeVonta SmithBAMAMISS570017
Just two weeks ago, it was Smith who was the most expensive Alabama WR and we told you to play Jaylen Waddle for the discount. That move paid off big time - and it’s wild to see Smith priced all the way down in the 5k range after starting the season at $7600. The discount is way too good to pass up in all formats tonight as Smith’s DFS floor and ceiling are both a lot higher than this price tag suggests. In ‘Bama’s opener, he totaled eight receptions for 89 yards and then followed up with six grabs for 63 yards and a TD last week. It looks like he’s more of the possession receiver in this offense while Waddle is the deep threat. So far, it’s resulted in more production for Waddle - but Smith has the potential to break out for multiple TDs and big yardage in any given week. Considering how much cheaper Smith is compared to both Waddle and John Metchie ($5900), we should confidently roll with him in all formats and a solid one-off play if you’re not rostering Mac Jones.
JaVonta PaytonMSSTUK520015.75
For the third straight time this season, it’s important to understand how unpredictable and volatile the Mississippi State receiving corps is right now. We’re two games into the season and we still don’t have many answers as to which Bulldog receivers can be trusted on a weekly basis. QB KJ Costello and this Air Raid offense utilize plenty of pass-catchers and 12 different Bulldogs have notched a reception over two weeks, with 10 of them having at least five catches. Payton, though, is one of two WRs with eight grabs thus far and he’s a lot cheaper than Osirus Mitchell at $6600. Payton is a solid cash play as we’ll likely see him be closer to his first performance (six catches, 122 yards) than last week’s two-catch outing.

Tamorrion TerryFSUND50008.3
It’s honestly really shocking to see Terry’s price tag this low after being one of the best DFS receivers last year. Yet, the discount is a good representation of the current state of the Florida State offense and Terry’s ever-changing role in it. While he has two solid games this season with six receptions in both, Terry also has an outing with negative DFS points on his resume after having no catches and one rush for -4 yards in a blowout loss to Miami. FSU’s coaches have started more young guys on offense and Terry has been on the outside looking in at times this year. However, the QB change to Jordan Travis last week seemed to get him back on track - so he should be back on our radar. For what Terry’s talent and DFS upside is, he’s way underpriced on this slate and makes for a fantastic GPP play.
Frank Ladson Jr.CLEMMIA490012.97
While Amari Rodgers ($6300) is the top Clemson wideout, it’s Ladson who’s a much better DFS play this week at a notable discount. QB Trevor Lawrence spreads the ball around to multiple receivers and it’s tough to fully trust Rodgers in cash at that price. Ladson, though, is another game-breaking playmaker for the Tigers who’s a close second to Rodgers in receptions and receiving yards this season. Last week vs. UVA, the sophomore had a career-high five receptions for 71 yards and was the clear #2 WR behind Rodgers. The price tag is a really affordable one and we’ll likely see him in the 5-6k range the rest of the way.
Bryce OliverUKMSST30000
Oliver is min-price for a reason, we don’t know what we’re getting here. However, the payoff could be very clutch as a salary-saver in lineups tonight. Oliver missed each of the first two games with an undisclosed injury but he’s expected to play tonight and he’s even listed as a starter on Kentucky’s depth chart this week. We don’t have much information on what the injury is, but we’ll need to monitor the Twitter reports of whether Oliver is truly warming up ahead of this 7:30 pm ET kickoff. If he does play, he doesn’t need to do much to return value on this price tag and we could see a decent number of targets with UK likely having to pass more today to keep pace with Mississippi State. If we get enough clarity on Oliver, he could even sneak into cash game territory.

Also Consider:
