If you made it big in the restaurant business, you got a Chef’s Table.

At Fantasy Alarm we have one too. Expect here you don’t need a reservation. Or a fat stack to pay for it.

The best part about the Chef’s Table is that you get to watch the preparation of your food from start to finish. Seeing every intricate detail that goes into your dish while enjoying the company of family and friends. Well, that’s what I’m gonna give you here.

Each week I will profile a player or players based on increased street cred throughout the industry.  Whether because of a recent hot streak, increased playing time or a promotion because of an injury. From there I will break down the recipe for that player’s success and determine if he is just a flash in the pan or someone who is gonna bring home the bacon.

Today’s Special: A.J. Ramos, RP (MIA)

After making many moves to improve both their offense and defense from a season ago, the Marlins are underperforming thus far as we near the middle of May. Although all the blame can't be placed on the underwhelming pitching staff, the fact is Steve Cishek just isn't the pitcher he was a season ago. After blowing his fourth save of the season on Monday, the Marlins coaching staff has announced that it will be Ramos who will get the first stab at landing the ninth inning role in the upcoming days.

Through his first 17 innings, Ramos owns an impressive 1.06 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 21:6 K:BB rate which is more than enough to warrant the first shot at taking over the closer role in South Beach. With the 2015 season being just the start of his third full season in the big leagues, Ramos has yet to be given a chance at closing in his young career, but he possesses both the tools and mentality to get the job done, now it will be time to show it, if in fact the coaching staff holds true to their recent comments.

In his previous two seasons, Ramos has been wild at times, owning just under a 2:1 K:BB ratio which will need to not resurface while currently owning closer to a 3:1 ratio in that area. On top of that he has allowed just seven home runs through 170 1/3 innings in his career, which is a great factor to consider when looking to add him off the wavier wire. Low walk total and having yet to allow a home run on the year are HUGE, especially for someone looking to nail down one of the most stressful jobs in the game.

At this point in the season anything can happen. We have already saw a few nine inning jobs change hands and not to mention a few big names struggling out the gates. If an owner in any of those situations, adding Ramos makes a lot of sense, knowing that the job in Miami is his if able to prove he can handle the pressure. Unless something changes in the upcoming days, he should be an add in all but the shallowest of league formats knowing he can run away with the job if he comes out firing.

Until next time, study hard and eat plenty!
