NFL Week 16 features their main slate on Saturday, Christmas Eve with 10 games this week featuring some of the top players at the QB position in Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Fields and Joe Burrow. Weather is going to be a deciding factor this week as well when it comes to the roster construction with frigid temperatures, snow and wind expected to hit most of the mid-west and east coast.

NFL DFS Main Slate

Top Tier

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

When it comes to weather this week the situation in Kansas City is rather mild compared to the rest with temperatures in the mid-teens, no precipitation and no real issues with wind expected either. Mahomes faces off against a Seahawks defense that has been better against the pass than the run this season but the Chiefs offense goes as Mahomes goes and while I'm sure Pacheco and McKinnon will get their carries I also wouldn't be shocked to see 250 yards and three touchdowns coming from Mahomes here either.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills/Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

I've alluded to the weather issues for this week's slate and the game between the Bills and the Bears is one of those games where throwing the football is going to be very difficult. We are looking at expected windchill in the negative degrees with wind gusts of over 20 MPH as of current forecasts. Now, BOTH QB's are elite runners so it is certainly possible they can still get their fantasy points here and Allen is no stranger to throwing in the cold so I give him the slight edge but just know this game opened with a total of 43 and is all the way down to 39.5.

Mid-Tier

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati  Bengals

Burrow and the Bengals travel to Massachusetts to face the Patriots this weekend. We have to monitor the wind gusts for this game but temps are expected to be in the mid-20s and there will be no precipitation. The Patriots defense has been one of the leagues top units this season as they rank among the leaders in sacks, turnovers and defensive touchdowns but we also just saw them have an epic collapse against the Raiders last week and you have to wonder how that effects a team. The Bengals offense is loaded with talent and while Belichick may be able to scheme a defense to shut down Chase that still leaves Higgins and Boyd to do the damage.

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

Cousins was looking like a complete bust in Week 15 with the Vikings being shutout by the Colts during the first half of their game but then we watched the worst regular season collapse of all-time with the Vikings coming back from a 33-0 deficit to win the football game. Cousins threw for over 400 yards against Indy with two touchdowns. He faces a Giants team which is coming off a big win against the Commanders but have certainly been a bit on the downswing of late. Cousins is a tournament only play.

Value Tier

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

The man is on the cover so you knew you were going to be seeing him in this write up. We love attacking this Vikings defense and while Matt Ryan didn't put up gaudy numbers a lot of that had to do with the play calling for the Colts. Daniel Jones has the ability to score fantasy points with both his arm and his legs which is what I love to see from the DFS QB's. We've also seen Jones be successful this season throwing the football even with his top receivers being Darius Slayton, Richie James and Isaiah Hodgins this season due to all the injuries the team has had at the receiver position this season.

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

We have an expected shootout here between the Seahawks and Chiefs so you know that Smith will garner some rostership in GPP contests this week. It's unfortunate that Tyler Lockett has already been ruled out but DK Metcalf and Marquise Goodwin will be acting as the primary receiving options for Smith in this game.

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers

I mean, the kid has looked pretty good through his first three games of action this season with six touchdowns and one interception over the past three games. The 49ers are home this week against a Commanders defense that has struggled against this pass this season. While expect another heavy dose of Christian McCaffrey this week there is no denying that Purdy can run this offense and at this price point, with the talent that is around him, he could give us another 17-18 fantasy points in this matchup.

Mustache Tier

Gardner Minshew, Philadelphia Eagles

What to do with Gardner Minshew? As of now the expectation is that Jalen Hurts will not be available for the Eagles Week 16 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. This is a very difficult matchup for most QB's given the Cowboys elite pass rush and strong secondary but this is also a secondary that is prone to giving up big plays and we just watched Jacksonville's offense light them up. We've seen Minshew come into games and perform at an above average level and he is surrounded by elite talent with A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert available to catch the football and Miles Sanders in a better position to handle a heavy workload. We are looking at Minshew at under $5,000 where he is a very appealing tournament play if he gets the nod to start.
