Jayson Werth needs shoulder surgery? That's what we're hearing out of D.C. Jurickson Profar is about ready to gain clearance coming back from his shoulder injury. Garrett Richards (knee) is progressing, but he's got a long way to go. There's some other players in here as well, but I'm almost more excited about the Bigfoot knowledge that's in here than anything else.

Yonder Alonso says his surgically repaired wrist feels great. Consider me non-plussed. He's hit .271 for his career with a .334 OBP and .395 SLG. That's as blah as you can possible get. In 405 games he's also hit a total 27 homers with 152 RBIs. The former elite prospect has never developed anything remotely approaching power, and that was a concern for many as he worked his way through the minors. Looks like the doubters were right about him.

J.P. Arencibia can't play defense, especially as a catcher. He really should be a DH/1B type. Can he hit enough to be a big leaguer without the tools of ignorance? We'll see, but he's signed a deal with the Orioles who will give him a shot. In 203 at-bats last season JPA hit 10 homer with 35 RBIs, strong production, but he's also hit .207 for his career with an atrocious .255 OBP that is simply ghastly (and those numbers are even worse the last two years). If Matt Wieters (elbow) is healthy there will be no spot for JPA since the club already has Chris Davis and Delmon Young

Chad Billingsley missed last season recovering from elbow woes but stays he is ready to pitch in 2015. Chad only threw 12 innings in 2013, and the last time he threw 150-innings was 2011. Still, for his career he has a 3.65 ERA with 7.94 strikeouts per nine, though the last time he hit that punchout numbers was 2010. Well worth a flier for an MLB club. Might be worth a look in league specific setups if given a role.

Has a Bigfoot family been photographed at the side of the road?

Jurickson Profar's most recent MRI showed his shoulder to be healing nicely. At this point it sounds like he's a good bet to start throwing in Spring Training. He won't break camp with the big league club, and barring an injury to someone on the Rangers we might not see the 21 year old until mid-season.

Garrett Richards had knee surgery in August and he's just now starting to run on a treadmill. He was spectacular last season with a 2.61 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, not to mention 8.75 strikeouts per nine, but it's sounding a lot like he won't be out on a big league hill until at least May. That knocks his draft value significantly.

Gaby Sanchez is gone after signing a 1-year deal to play in Japan. In 2010-11 he hit 19 homers with 72 runs scored each season, while driving in 85 and 78 runs. Hey, he was worth something back then. He only hit 21 homers with 99 RBIs the last three years.

Better yet, is this a video of Bigfoot? Check out around the 2:10 mark.

Jayson Werth, according to unconfirmed reports, will have shoulder surgery that could cost him the next 2-3 months. If we're actually looking at the long end of that estimate it's very likely that he will miss the start of the 2015 season. Additionally, any shoulder woes can lead to a reduction in power as a batter's swing is compromised, and that is a concern for a player who will be 36 years old in May. Michel Taylor figures to get first shot at playing time in left field with this news. Who is Taylor? He only had 39 big league at-bats, but the soon to be 24 year old killed it in the minors last year with 23 homers and 37 steals (98 games at Double-A, 12 at Triple-A). That's a fantasy skill set to get behind.
