Now before we begin, please take a moment to understand what exactly you are getting yourself into by playing single-game Showdown Slates. We love to have some skin in the game, for sure, but these slates are, for all intents and purposes, a lottery ticket. Sure, there are times when the chalk hits and everyone shares in the prizes, but, more often than not, you need to hit on that random dart-throw that differentiates your lineup from that of the herd in order to claim the top prize. As a result, we encourage you to play responsibly and not over-invest. Stick to the GPP contests (single-entry preferred), don’t blow your whole bankroll, and understand that, unless you are a max-entry player, you should prioritize having fun.

OK. Lecture over. Let’s get to tonight’s action.

Chicago Bears vs Los Angeles Rams

Spread: Rams -8

O/U: 46

**Please note that players not listed below are not necessarily a complete fade and any player listed can certainly be used as the MVP/Captain. These are merely suggestions for players to use when setting Showdown lineups.

MVP/Captain

Cooper Kupp, WR - When the Rams made the move to trade for Matthew Stafford the immediate reaction to this move was that Kupp was going to benefit greatly from having a QB like Stafford who has the reputation of someone who connects well with his slot receivers. The Bears defense is not what it once was and they struggled against slot receivers last season.

Matthew Stafford, QB - With the Cam Akers injury we figure Stafford will be asked to throw the football a lot more with the Rams rushing attack under Sony Michel and Darrell Henderson being much more of a complimentary piece to the offense than a focal point. Stafford gives the Rams offense a real downfield threat here against the Bears with receivers like Kupp and Robert Woods leading the way in this offense.

Rams Defense - Yes, I think a defense can be the MVP/CPT of a showdown lineup. Andy Dalton is mistake prone and prone to taking a sack. The Rams should be locking down Allen Robinson with Jalen Ramsey which will force Dalton to go to the secondary receiving options which, in Chicago, there isn't anyone overly special as we see if Darnell Mooney or Cole Kmet can break out.  Defenses are generally a pretty cheap option but tonight the Rams defense is a mid-priced option worth looking at.

Mid-Tier

Darnell Mooney, WR - With Allen Robinson dealing with Jalen Ramsey all night the Bears will be forced to look elsewhere and that target is likely going to be  Mooney.  AS a rookie, Mooney caught 61 passes for 631 yards and four touchdowns last season. He is an absolute burner and if he gets the ball in space he can take it to the house in the blink of an eye. Can Andy Dalton get him the football? Well, that is the question here tonight isn't it?

Sony Michel, RB  - Michel was acquired by the Rams late in training camp as they looked for additional depth following the Cam Akers season ending injury. Michel was actually have a good camp with New England and finished last season strong for the team. He will likely handle the early down carries here for the Rams with Darrell Henderson acting as the third down back and change of pace option. Should the Rams get into the red zone, especially by the goal line, Michel could find the end zone here.

Robert Woods, WR - Woods is going to be the outside receiver for the Stafford to target in this matchup. I find Woods to be often undervalued when it comes to fantasy but the QB play last season really put a damper on his upside. With a better QB now in Los Angeles, I think Woods will go back to his 1,000-yard ways and in tonight's matchup he could very well lead the game in receiving yards with Stafford taking some shots down field.

Cole Kmet, TE - Much like the analysis for Mooney, the Bears will need to throw the football in this game and with Robinson likely locked up, Kmet could very well be a big target for Dalton tonight. Kmet came on strong at the end of last season and has likely moved over Jimmy Graham in the pecking order as the top tight end option in this offense.

Dart Throws

Allen Robinson, WR - Robinson is going to be on Ramsey Island tonight which makes him a dart throw over a player worth actually rostering. Most slates, Robinson would be a captain consideration but tonight he probably doesn't have a high roster percentage given the matchup. IF you want to be different, you can play Robinson and hope he gets open and in the end zone for you.

Tyler Higbee, TE - I am not the biggest fan of Tyler Higbee as a pass catcher but he has shown the ability to have multiple touchdown games in his career. If the Rams get into the red zone enough tonight there is definitely a shot that Higbee finds the end zone here.
