League of Legends DFS Slate August 15th and 16th, 2022

With the Summer Split completed and playoffs beginning, both the LCK and LPL have huge matchups for us to break down. For both leagues, these teams represent some of the lowest seeds in their region and have the longest path to a championship bid. How will these teams fair? They all will need to be flexible to the ever-changing metas and bring a mental toughness to these best-of-five series. Who continues their march through the playoffs? Let’s dive in and see!

DFS Breakdown

Series #1: Oh My God v Funplus Phoenix

Series Breakdown: The reason this series will look close in the final score line is because of the inconsistency that OMG plays with. They have the better carry (Able) and have had better team performances through Summer Split. FPX will rely on the play of Summit (top) and Clid (jungle) but relying on those two positions to leverage a series win is just too tough to do. In the playoffs, you can come into a singular game with a creative draft but you cannot sustain that for a series. I would imagine FPX is able to draft themselves one win but the better team play should carry the day for OMG here.

Favorite Picks: Able (OMG: $11,100/$7,400), Creme (OMG: $7,200)

Value Picks: Summit (FPX: $6,000), Clid (FPX: $6,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Oh My God (3-1)

Series #2: Liiv Sandbox v DRX

Series Breakdown: The LCK representative for this slate should be an explosive one. LSB and DRX have had a bit of divergent stories this year. In 2022, DRX began as one of the strongest teams in Korea but over the course of time (more specifically Summer) they have tailed off. LSB, after the addition of Prince, have steadily gotten more and more polished. I think that showdown in the bottom lane between Prince and Deft will be the deciding factor. Zeka (DRX mid laner) has not been able to make as explosive of plays in the mid lane as he had earlier this split. We also have seen a drop off in production out of Pyosik, a core reason for DRX’s early success. This is the most likely sweep of the day if LSB brings their “A” game on Wednesday.

Favorite Picks: Prince (LSB: $11,700/$7,800), Dove (LSB: $6,800), Croco (LSB: $7,200), Liiv SANDBOX ($5,400)

Value Picks: Pyosik (DRX: $5,800), Zeka (DRX: $6,400),

Cann’s Match Pick: Liiv Sandbox (3-0)

Series #3: LNG Esports v Bilibili Gaming

Series Breakdown: You could make a case for any of the three series going to a full 5 game set, but the most likely to go the distance has to be LNG versus BLG. Both teams have struggled to put away series that they are favored in or have leads in. Both teams will play through their bottom lane (Light v Doggo) and have had their solo laners become liabilities on the backside because of it. The jungle matchup of Tarzan versus Weiwei will determine how this series plays out because both teams heavily rely on their jungler to control the mid-game objective fights and will fall apart if that role fall behind.

Favorite Picks: Light (LNG: $12,000/$8,000), Ale (LNG: $6,600), LNG Esports ($5,200)

Value Picks: Doggo (BLG: $10,500/$7,000), Weiwei (BLG: $6,200), Crisp (BLG: $5,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: LNG Esports (3-2)
