League of Legends DFS Playbook: LCK February 9

League of Legends Championship Korea
Week 4 Day 1 – February 9th, 2022 (starts @ 3 AM ET)
(-1100) T1 v Hanwha Life Esports (+550)
(+325) DRX v KT Rolster (-525)
The return of the LCK starts Wednesday morning and it will mark a sprint to the finish for these teams. Some teams have really been impressive while other squads have failed to make the impression they wanted to. The top of the table has LCK titans T1 and Gen.G sitting at 6-0 and 5-1, respectively. The rest of the league sharply drops off, including the reigning LCK champions Damwon Gaming. Players across the league have put on a show for the LCK fans and the second half of the league looks to be just as entertaining.
On Wednesday, we have the prohibitive favorites in T1 looking to build on their first six wins against a shell of a team in Hanwha Life Esports. Young T1 superstar Gumayusi is also on pace for one of the best seasons for an ADC, and Wednesday’s series matchup is ideal for him to continue that. DRX and KT Rolster could be a closer matchup, but odds-on favorites (KT Rolster) have the more talented roster. Explosive players to choose from and a lot of different lineups you can run to get an edge. So let’s dive in!
Series #1: T1 v Hanwha Life Esports
Cann’s Pick: T1 (2-0)
Series #2: DRX v KT Rolster
Cann’s Pick: KT Rolster (2-1)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
Captain
Favorite: Gumayusi (T1: $11,400) When I look over the entire slate, Gumayusi probably has the highest ceiling out of anyone. He is an aggressive young ADC who has great control over his laning phase. Both he and his support (Keria) do an excellent job putting pressure on opposing laning phases while picking up big gold leads early. He has the highest kill total on the slate (70) and is averaging almost five kills per game. With the captain multiplier bonus, grabbing a high-kill output player can be key for winning these lobbies.
Value Pick: SeTab (DRX: $10,200)
Top
Favorite: Zeus (T1: $6,600) The most simple analysis for this slate is to pick up as many T1 players as you can into your lineup. We do need to be selective and, for that reason, I think taking a moment and looking at Zeus may be a good idea. The price tag is high for a top laner, but Zeus' 3.8 KDA is the best among top laners on the slate. He has 39 kills with a solid 56% team-kill participation rate. In the LCK, many top laners are left on an island. Zeus having over a 55% rate is a good benchmark on what you can expect in terms of production for Wednesday.
Value Pick: Rascal ($6,400)
Jungle
Favorite: Oner (T1: $7,000) Oner is the mold for the prototypical LCK jungler. He is safe and limits unnecessary risks. Oner focuses on efficient pathing that hits ideal windows to pull off ganks, which leads to really great kill (46) and assist (114) numbers. T1 is hitting their stride and it's hard to pick again them in any matchup – especially after their dominating win over Gen.G before the break.
Value Pick: Peach (DRX: $6,200)
Mid
Favorite: Faker (T1: $7,400) When fans of global esports think of the “GOAT”, the name that comes to mind for League of Legends is Faker. After a few down years in 2020 and 2021, Faker seems to have exploded into a new stratosphere of play. He has 56 kills and is averaging almost eight assists per game. T1 is playing so heavily through mid-lane control, that it seems like a really bad idea to fade the T1 mid laner into a very questionable HLE squad. Faker will pick up gold leads early through great trading patterns, but he will pay off your choice to put him in your lineup in the later stages of the game. His team-fighting is second to none and his ability to predict enemy movements may be the best in the world.
Value Pick: Karis (HLE: $7,000)
ADC
Favorite: Aiming (KT: $7,800) Most of KT Rolster makes me nervous to pick. The team has given up some pretty bad stinkers this year, but the players I am most comfortable with for this squad come from their bottom lane. DRX’s biggest weakness is the bottom lane with Deft and BeryL being some of the lowest-performing players in the league. I would not be shocked by a DRX win in this spot, especially with them bringing in new talent at jungle and mid lane. I do have faith that Aiming will still pick up his fantasy points, regardless. His performances have been consistent in both wins and losses for the team.
Value Pick: SamD (HLE: $7,200)
Support
Favorite: Keria (T1: $5,800) Risk for this pick doesn’t come from Keria and his ability to produce on a game-in and game-out basis. Instead, I do have some pause due to the fact that T1 has consistently listed a second possible support on their roster. Keria has somehow been able to maintain a KDA you would normally find at a carry role (5.0) and is leading the LCK in the assist column (157). If they run the Gumayusi and Keria lane, this series could end up as one of the fastest 2-0’s for the split.
Value Pick: Life (KT: $5,600)
Team
Favorite: T1 ($5,000) On these smaller slates, picking heavy favorites tend to be the easiest bets. We can find examples of when extreme dogs steal a series against the heavy favorite, but they don’t happen often. T1 has lasting power because of how they are beating teams. They aren’t the Gen.Gs or the Nongshims of the world, both of those teams have to close games by winning fight after fight. T1 can win through fighting, but they set the pace of those fights by having excellent objective control. That objective control has huge payoffs in the team slot as T1 will have higher dragon control and baron control rates.
Value Pick: DRX ($4,600)
