Welcome to the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report! The waiver wire is key to winning. It helps you improve on the team you drafted, and to help patch holes when players go down due to injury. It’s something most managers will monitor daily. Let’s take a look at who we should be adding this week.

Seth Jarvis - Carolina Hurricanes - Winger

Seth Jarvis has three goals in the last three games and continues to skate on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov. The rookie is good, and he’s starting to demonstrate that every time he takes the ice. His shot volume is pretty good, and if he can stick on that top line, he’s going to get a ton of chances to score goals. He’s going to struggle at some point, but right now, he’s hot, and deserves to be on a fantasy hockey team

Lawson Crouse - Arizona Coyotes - Winger

I know we’re talking about an Arizona Coyotes forward, but Lawson Crouse might be worth a roster spot. This team is trash, but Crouse is seeing close to 20-minutes of ice time every night and is skating on the top power play unit. This team is going to be playing catch up hockey more often than not, so game script will constantly be in their favour. The 24-year-old may not win you a league championship, but he certainly won’t hurt your chances.

Ryan Poehling - Montreal Canadiens - Center

It’s a small sample size, but Ryan Poehling scored two goals against Nashville and might be starting to turn a corner. Christian Dvorak has been a bust so far this season, and let’s stop pretending like Jake Evans is anything more than a fourth line center. Poehling is a big centerman that can play at both ends of the ice, and if given a real chance, he could easily be a second line centerman in the NHL. Will he get the chance? Who knows, but in deeper leagues, if you have a free roster spot, he’s a player to consider. If it doesn’t work out, just drop him and look for another diamond in the rough.

Jonathan Quick - Los Angeles Kings - Goalie

We’ve already talked about Jonathan Quick earlier in the year, but the veteran netminder is only 57% owned in Yahoo! leagues and that is a problem. Cal Petersen has not been good this season, and Quick has just been lights out-- posting a 1.88 GAA and  a .940 SV%-- and should at one point take over the starting job. The Kings are capable of making the playoffs, and the more Quick plays, the better their chances are at getting to hunt for Lord Stanley. This is your final call to add him before it’s really too late.

Evan Bouchard - Edmonton Oilers - Defence

With Darnell Nurse out of the lineup, Evan Bouchard should see an expanded role in Edmonton’s offence. He’s a good all-around defenceman, but his offence is what we are targeting, and more ice time should lead to more shots, which should translate to more points. He’s still available in a lot of leagues, so grab him now before it’s too late.
