2022 Player Outlook

Hoerner isn't going to break records with his batted ball profile, but he doesn't strikeout often, he can take a walk and can be a menace on the base paths. He hit .302 in 2021 with a .382 OBP, despite posting a 1.6 percent barrel rate and 34.4 percent hard-hit rate. He went 5-for-8 on the basepaths last year, and in a full-time role, he should be a nice speed and average guy. Hoerner's biggest fantasy contributions in 2022 are going to be his batting average and stolen base numbers. He's in line for a regular role in the Chicago offense, and his 91st percentile sprint speed should play well in a full-time role. He won't contend for the league lead in steals, but he can certainly hit .280 or higher with 15+ stolen bases in 2022. At just 24 years old, there's still a lot of developing for Hoerner to enjoy, and a couple of home runs will help. If your league values on-base percentage, Hoerner is a guy I would actively be targeting, because he should post a double-digit walk rate with a double-digit stolen base this season.
