2022 Player Outlook
Injuries limited Wood to just 48.1 innings with the Reds and Dodgers in 2019 and 2020. But in 2021, he made 26 starts for San Francisco and struck out 152 over 138.2 innings. He posted a 3.83 ERA and a 10-4 record. The Giants liked his performance well enough to reward him with a new two-year contract. Wood, like DeSclafani was a beneficiary of the ballpark change and if he stays healthy, Steamer likes him to make 29 starts and still average over a strikeout per inning. Wood projects more like a SP5/SP6 for your fantasy roster. That’s dependent on him staying healthy so keep expectations in check.
