Once again this year, we are proud to deliver a weekly roundup of the key injuries that have occurred in the last seven days in the National Hockey League, as well as the potential and actual returns from injury of other important fantasy performers. We will also update the conditions of other players that matter to fantasy leaguers (if available). Here is this week's batch:

1. Jonathan Quick, G, Kings (lower-body injury, Injured Reserve)

Two years ago, Quick was injured in LA's first game of the season and wound up missing 59 games! Fast forward to last week and it happened again in Game 1, though the veteran netminder was able to complete the contest this time around. He has missed the team's last two games and is considered week to week. Jack Campbell should see ample ice time in Quick's absence, with journeyman Peter Budaj acting as the backup.

2. Matt Murray, G, Penguins (concussion, out indefinitely)

The two-time Stanley Cup champion did not look like himself in Pittsburgh's first two games, surrendering 11 goals against Washington and Montreal last week. Later, it was discovered that Murray had a concussion, which might explain (at least in part) his early struggles in goal. With Murray out indefinitely, look for Casey DeSmith and Tristan Jarry to share the load. Both DeSmith and Jarry should be picked up in most fantasy formats.

3. James van Riemsdyk, LW, Flyers (lower-body injury, out indefinitely)

A 36-goal man with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, 'JVR' was injured in Game 2 of the Flyers' 2018-19 schedule (at Colorado) and is expected to miss the next 5-6 weeks. It's an early blow to van Riemsdyk fantasy owners who were hoping for a repeat performance of his career year in 2017-18. Jordan Weal might replace JVR in the Philadelphia lineup most nights but the biggest beneficiary here may be winger Oskar Lindblom.

4. Corey Crawford, G, Blackhawks (concussion, Injured Reserve)

The Blackhawks' No. 1 goaltender has now missed the team's last 50 regular-season contests, dating back to the 2017-18 campaign. However, Crawford's return may be on the horizon. According to various reports, the 33-year-old veteran might be ready to return to action next week. In the meantime, fellow veteran Cam Ward will continue to hold down the fort. Crawford fantasy owners should have a backup plan, in case of a setback.

5. Seth Jones, D, Blue Jackets (knee injury, Injured Reserve)

Unfortunately for both Jones fantasy owners and the Blue Jackets, the all-around stud defenseman was injured during preseason action last month. His injury, an MCL sprain in his knee, should keep him out of action for the next 4-6 weeks. Finnish rearguard Markus Nutivaara will play a top-four blueline role in Columbus during Jones's absence, and he will also see a little power-play duty. Nutivaara is worth a speculative pickup in deep leagues.

6. Torey Krug, D, Bruins (ankle injury, Injured Reserve)

Like Jones, Krug also suffered his injury during the preseason schedule, and he too will likely miss the first month of the regular season. The diminutive Krug is Boston's No. 1 power-play quarterback but youngsters Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk should be able to hold down the fort during Krug's absence. McAvoy is already a keeper in most leagues but the 24-year-old Grzelcyk may be available in certain league formats.

7. Shea Weber, D, Canadiens (knee surgery, Injured Reserve)

The Canadiens' undisputed No. 1 defenseman (and newly-named team captain) could be out until the end of the calendar year (at least), though there is some hope Weber might be able to return in December. Either way, both the Habs and Weber fantasy owners need to make contingency plans for the next few months. Most of Weber's big minutes will likely go to veteran Jeff Petry but keep an eye on both Mike Reilly and Victor Mete early on.

8. Cory Schneider, G, Devils (hip injury, Injured Reserve)

At this point, it is hard to pinpoint Schneider's return date. New Jersey's de facto No. 1 netminder before his hip problem began, Schneider may also have to earn his way back into coach John Hynes' 'circle of trust' upon his return to action. Keith Kinkaid will likely continue to see a decent amount of playing time even when the 32-year-old Schneider (who has three more seasons left on his contract with a salary-cap hit of $6 million) is healthy.

9. Roberto Luongo, G, Panthers (knee injury, Injured Reserve)

By now, the 39-year-old Luongo's injury issues have become par for the fantasy hockey course. As is the case every season, owning Luongo's trusty No. 2 man James Reimer as a handcuff to Luongo is primordial in most fantasy leagues. Luongo's latest ailment, a knee issue, is expected to keep him out of action for the next 2-4 weeks. Reimer might see 95 percent of minutes over that span. He should be owned in all fantasy formats now.

10. Alex Galchenyuk, C/W, Coyotes (lower-body injury, Injured Reserve)

The former Montreal sharpshooter was having a strong training camp with his new squad when it got derailed by a preseason injury that will force him out of the lineup indefinitely. Galchenyuk is expected to play center upon his return to action, which may create a logjam in Arizona. Currently, Clayton Keller is playing down the middle to compensate for the absence of both Galchenyuk and Christian Dvorak due to injury. Monitor this situation.
