TOP CBB DFS GUARDS

Jaelen House – New Mexico @ Colorado State ($8.6K)

The high-dollar guard position is stacked tonight. Jalen Cook is a star and can headline any DFS lineup but he is also nearly $10K ($9.6K DK). Khalil Shabazz and Isaiah Stevens are also firmly in play, but Jaelen House may be the best of them all. Now that he is healthy the star point guard is on a roll and is coming off one of his best performances of the season where he scored 24 points and posted five assists and five rebounds en route to a 43.3 DKFP day against Fresno State. He carries a 27.1% usage, 26.5 % shot, and 27.1% assist rate into this important tournament matchup with Colorado State. The Rams are allowing a 54.6% field goal and 38.2% 3-PT rate (10th in the conference) so expect House and teammate Jamal Mashburn Jr. to shoot early and often tonight.

Roman Penn – Drake vs. Murray State ($6.8K)

Roman Penn has been unlucky in his college basketball career. His time at Siena was cut short due to an injury and after sitting out his first year at Drake due to transfer rules he has had to deal with three different foot surgeries over three years. After a slow start to this season where he clearly wasn’t 100%, Penn is finally producing at an elite level at point guard. This is the first time since the 2019-20 season that D.J. Wilkins and Penn will play in the conference tournament together and with Tucker DeVries, they come into Arch Madness as the No. 2 seed loaded. Penn has a 24.8% usage and 22.3% shot rate and leads the Missouri Valley with a 35.4% assist rate. This is a solid price for Drakes’ all-time assists leader (158 assists this season) who was recently named to the MVC All-Conference First team with a 12.5 point and 4.7 rebound average.

Other Top Guards

Jalen Cook, Tulane ($9.6K)

Cook is the top overall play of the slate but he doesn’t come cheap. He is ranked Top-50 nationally with a 30.2% usage and 31.0% shot rate and is one of the most prolific scorers in the country.

Khalil Shabazz, San Francisco ($8.7K)

Shabazz has scored 40+ DKFP in three of his last five games. With a 26.5% usage and 28.4% shot rate, he could end up the top scorer on the entire slate.

Isiah Stevens, Colorado State ($8.4K)

Stevens is ranked 8th in the country with a 37.4% assist rate. He is coming off one of his worst games of the season (16.3 DKFP against San Jose State) so that may keep his ownership down. Expect a big bounce back tonight.

Jaylen Forbes, Tulane ($8.1K)

Forbes is the Robin to Jaylen Cook’s Batman. He has 35+ DKFP over his last two games and four of his last five. If you cannot get to Cook, then Forbes is a nice consolation from the highest implied team score of the slate.

Donovan Clay G/F, Missouri State ($6.4K)

All-MVC Second Team honor recently for the senior guard. Clay also leads the Bears in scoring at 11.9 points a game and carries a 24.9% usage and 22.3% shot rate. My only worry is that this is the second game of a back-to-back for Missouri State after smoking Illinois-Chicago last night.

John Tonje, Colorado State ($6.5K)

Tonje is coming off a 38 DKFP game against Wyoming and has scored 25+ DKFP in six of his last seven. With a 28% usage and 17 -point average over his last five games Tonje is a sneaky play at this price.

Jaden Walker, East Carolina ($6.0K)

Walker is playing the best ball of his season with 47, 37, 22 and 41 DKFP over his last four games. He just lit up Tulane two days ago for a 41 DKFP double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds) and gets the same team tonight in a pace-up game. With Javan Small injured Walker is a great play tonight as he plays every minute.

TOP CBB DFS VALUE GUARD

Maurice Odom – Pacific @ San Francisco ($3.7K)

On a slate lacking value, why not take a chance on a starting point guard that has been playing 22-26 minutes over his last couple of games? We get a bargain basement price of $3.7K on Maurice Odom who is coming off a 22-point (28.8 DKFP) game where he put up 15 shots against Pepperdine. He is averaging over 20 DKFP in his last five games and one of those was against this same San Francisco squad where he put up 10 points and four assists (21.3 DKFP). A 4-7X Value game is certainly in reach for this guard punt play.

Other Guard Values

Alston Mason, Missouri State ($5.2K)

Mason is cash viable as he averages 37 minutes per game over his last five with six straight over 20 DKFP. The Bears are on the back end of a back-to-back, but Mason is still good for 4X value.

Mike Meadows, Portland ($4.5K)

Meadows will play 30+ minutes and that’s what you look for as a cash value play, especially in a big-time pace up. He has a 23.5% shot and 13.9% assist rate in conference play as well as an elite 6.5% turnover rate. Meadows is the safest out of all of the guard values.

Quincy Anderson, Murray State ($4.7K)

Anderson has put up 25+ DKFP in four of his last five games. He plays around 27 minutes and isn’t afraid to shoot.

TOP CBB DFS FORWARDS

DaRon Holmes II – Dayton @ St. Louis ($9.1K)

Holmes is coming off the Atlantic-10 Player of the Week award as he averaged 28.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots against George Mason and UMass. He then kept rolling with a double-double against LaSalle (16 points and 10 rebounds) as he continues to lead Dayton in scoring at 18.3 points per game and is first in the country with 79 dunks. Holmes is a star power forward that doesn’t get the credit he deserves playing out of the A-10. In conference play, he holds a 27.3% usage and 26.1% shot to go along with a 27% combined rebound rate.

Morris Udeze – New Mexico @ Colorado State ($8.7K)

Morris Udeze is a Fantasy Alarm brand favorite as he has made us plenty of cash on Friday nights this season. He leads the Mountain West with 12 double-doubles and is averaging 15.8 points (8th in the conference), 9.3 rebounds (1st- two ahead of anyone else in the league), and 60.7% shooting (1st). The Newcomer of the Year candidate that transferred from Wichita State has helped change the culture of New Mexico hoops basketball with his inside toughness in the paint and the maturity that the team needs for a deep postseason run. Choosing between Holmes and Udeze for a main lineup spot will be the biggest decision on the slate.

Tucker DeVries G/F – Drake vs. Murray State ($7.5K)

DeVries was just recognized for his awesome season with the Missouri Valley Larry Bird Trophy as the league’s player of the year. He is the first Bulldog to win the award since 2008 after averaging 18.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in his sophomore year and is the main reason that Drake is 24-7 and the No. 2 seed at Arch Madness. DeVries is too cheap for a power forward with a 27.6% usage (fourth in the MVC) and 31.1% shot (second in the MVC) rate that draws plenty of fouls (4.7 per 40) and shoots 84% from the free throw line.

Other Top Forwards

Fousseyni Traore, BYU ($7.6K)

Portland has been tough against opposing big men but Traore is coming off three straight 30+ DKFP games highlighted by a monster game against San Francisco last week where he scored 17 points with 14 rebounds. Solid price on a BYU team that is tied for second for the highest implied score of the slate.

Kevin Cross, Tulane ($8.6K)

Cross is GPP-only due to a recent slump plus he only scored eight points against this same ECU team last week.  He is capable of nuking the slate, though, as he has had a 57 DKFP game (Cincinnati) and 45 DKFP game (USF) in the last three weeks. ECU allows over 11 rebounds a game to opposing centers.

Brandon Johnson, East Carolina ($7.8K)

Johnson averages 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds and has been a safe play all season but has also seen a significant price bump over the last month.

TOP CBB DFS VALUE FORWARD

Jake Forrester – St. Louis vs. Dayton ($4.7K)

Forward value is very weak today, but senior Jake Forrester is in play if Francis Okoro misses another game (illness). With Okoro, out against VCU on Tuesday Forrester put up 14 points and a 10-rebound double-double (37 DKFP) in 30 minutes. This is a news-dependent play but if we get word that Okoro remains sidelined then Forrester can be a 5-6X value punt.

Other Forward Values

Keylan Boone G/F, Pacific ($5.0K)

Boone has a 27% usage rate in his last five games and put up 31 DKFP in his last meeting against San Francisco. This is a “boom or bust” type of big man that is capable of crushing (50 DKFP against San Diego) or totally flopping with 5.8 Fouls Called per 40.

Tylan Pope, Tulane ($5.7K)

Pope always intrigues me at this price. He is a foul risk but is still good for 4-5X value with three straight 20 DKFP games which include an 11-point, three-rebound game against the same ECU team that he faces tonight.

Ezra Ausar, East Carolina ($5.8K)

Ausar is a foul risk but if he keeps his hands to himself he is capable of 30 minutes and 30 DKFP. He is GPP-only due to his low floor.
