Dostal received 39 first-place votes and a total of 244 points to finish 87 points ahead of second-place finisher Henrik Haukeland for the honor. The 19-year-old netminder posted a league-high 27 wins, while recording a 1.78 goals-against average and .928 save percentage in 43 appearances with Ilves. Bo Horvat has plenty of confidence in the young core of the Vancouver Canucks.

"I think they will be up for it," Horvat said Thursday. "They know what it takes to win, and they know what playoff hockey is like. I think they are going to be ready for it. They have the game to suit the playoffs. I don't think there's much to be said, I think they just know what needs to be done and our main goal at the end of it." The Canucks captain had 16 goals and 45 points in 57 games during the 2019-20 season. Vancouver is set to play against Minnesota in a best-of-five series during the Stanley Cup Qualifier round.

Middleton posted four goals and 13 points in 41 games with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL last season. The 22-year-old defender was initially selected in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Matt Dumba raised more than $200,000 to rebuild Lake Street in Minneapolis.

The NHL Foundation and the Minnesota Wild Foundation made contributions of their own to match Dumba's initial donation. "I'm ecstatic that I have the NHL backing me and my own club," Dumba said Wednesday. "I'm just so thankful to (NHL Commissioner) Gary [Bettman] and to (Wild owner) Craig [Leipold]. It just goes to show that people are really opening up their hearts during this time and are looking to help out those in need. I think that's what it's all about. That's how we'll come together and create real change in our communities." Dumba and his brother Kyle also worked with the Lake Street Council to bring in more $60,000 in donations from a fundraiser raffle. Training camps are scheduled to open Monday as part of Phase 3 of the NHL Return to Play Plan. Minnesota is slated to play against Vancouver in a best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifier series when Phase 4 starts.

“For me, I don’t really need to go anywhere,” Barkov said of the rules that will be in place during the NHL Return to Play Plan when Phase 4 begins. "I think our guys are all the same way. We talk a lot of group chat and I know most of the guys cannot wait. We know the situation we’re in and we’re going to handle it really well and try and stay as safe as we can. That means not going anywhere. For me, the Stanley Cup playoffs is everything. I would not leave my bed but just go to games and practices for the chance to play in the playoffs and try and win the Stanley Cup. This is what we live for." Florida is poised to play against the New York Islanders in the Stanley Cup Qualifier round.

Phillipp Grubauer and Pavel Francouz could split Colorado's exhibition matches once the NHL Return to Play Plan enters Phase 4.

The Avalanche will play some round-robin games to determine playoff seeding. Grubauer is expected to have a slight edge over Francouz as the number one goaltender, but whoever plays better leading into Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs could become the starter in Game 1. Francouz posted solid numbers in 2019-20 when Grubauer was injured. Grubauer is probably healthy now, but the health of several players won't become clear until training camps open on July 13.

St. Louis had an impressive 42-19-10 record before the pause. It's been almost four months without hockey, but the sport has remained at the forefront of Allen's mind. “It really felt that hockey was always triggered in your mind,” he said. “because you knew it wasn’t over. You felt like there wasn’t any closure in the season. You sort of always were thinking about it. In the summer, the season's done, you win or you lose and you forget about it for a couple months. You’re not really worried about it and you pick it up later in the summer. This time, it’s ‘When are we playing? What’s going on?’ You’re always thinking about, talking about it. You never really checked out. There’s unfinished business because there was no closure to it.” If everything goes as planned, the Blues will be able to resume their defense of their 2019 championship when play resumes on Aug. 1.

Henrik Lundqvist hasn't joined the Rangers for their Phase 2 workouts yet.

Lundqvist did travel back to New York, but he's waiting to be cleared. Phase 3, which is training camp, is set to begin on July 13. There's a real chance that the Rangers won't use Lundqvist at all in the qualifying round given that they also have Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin. Both Georgiev and Shesterkin have been on the ice for Phase 2.
