Astros re-signed OF Michael Brantley to a two-year, $32 million contract.

Brantley drew strong interest this winter from a number of other teams, most notably the Blue Jays, but he ultimately decided to return to Houston on a deal that looks extremely similar to the one he signed there two offseasons ago. The 33-year-old boasts a .309/.370/.497 batting line with 27 home runs and 112 RBI over his last 194 games since the beginning of 2019 and should remain a reliable high-OBP presence in the heart of the Astros' lineup. He spent a lot of time at DH last summer, but the hope is that Yordan Alvarez (knees) will be back in the fold to handle that role in 2021, with Brantley commanding the majority of the starts in left field.

A hamstring issue suffered by Senzatela early in camp is going to keep him from making a couple of Cactus League starts, but assuming there are no setbacks, he should be ready to hurl at the start of the season.

Oberg has been reportedly progressing very well after requiring multiple surgeries for blood clotting issues, and also thoracic outlet surgery on his right shoulder. He was excellent in 2019 with a 2.25 ERA for the Rockies that year, and he should be a high-leverage reliever for Colorado if he's healthy this summer.

Reds manager David Bell told reporters that Michael Lorenzen is in a good position to win a spot in the rotation to begin the year.

"(Lorenzen's) in a good position to earn a starting spot, but we have a long way to go," Bell said. "It's a question as what's best for our team, best for our pitching staff. A lot goes into that, it's not just about any one pitcher." Lorenzen has worked out of the bullpen for most of his career, but has made 26 appearances as a starter, and he definitely has the arm strength to handle the role. If Cincinnati feels good about the backend of the bullpen, it makes sense to give the 29-year-old a chance to start at the beginning of the year.

Eric Hosmer went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Royals.

The solo blast was also Hosmer's first hit of the spring as he was 0-for-9 leading up to the at-bat. His home run came in the fourth inning off of Carlos Hernandez. Hosmer was having a resurgent season in 2020, slashing .287/.333/.517 with nine home runs and four steals before hitting the injured list with a fractured index finger. The 31-year-old will be looking to pick up where he left off for a Padres team with World Series aspirations.

Mike Soroka (Achilles) threw two innings on Sunday in a simulated game.

A source told David O'Brien of The Athletic that Soroka's fastball was a "couple of ticks" below what he normally works at, but that the right-hander looked "very good" for a pitcher that has missed as much time as he has. He faced a combination of both prospects and hitters, and the results weren't released -- and don't matter. Soroka faces an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster because of the Achilles injury, but it does seem like he won't miss more than a month at most.

Trent Grisham went 1-for-2 with a solo home run against the Royals in a Cactus League game Sunday afternoon.

Grisham led off the game with a solo jack to right field off of Jakob Junis. He's now 3-for-9 to start Cactus League play and has already drawn four walks and stolen a base. Grisham is an attractive outfield option across all formats hitting atop a loaded Padres lineup. His ability to get on base at a high clip should give him plenty of opportunities to run as the Padres have shown to be aggressive on the base paths. After hitting 10 home runs and stealing 10 bases in last year's shortened season, 20/20 is certainly on the table for the 24-year-old center fielder.

Dinelson Lamet threw 20 pitches on Sunday during live batting practice on Sunday.

Lamet was also able to throw 15 pitches during Tuesday's session. Unlike last time, the right-hander was able to work in some changes and sliders, however; a positive sign. Lamet has serious injury risk, but offers tremendous upside because of his ability to miss bats and pitching behind what should be one of the best teams in baseball.

Ketel Marte went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk as the Diamondbacks beat the Cubs 5-4 in Sunday afternoon's Cactus League game.

Marte drew a walk in the first inning then drove home Stuart Fairchild on a single in the third. He then hit his fourth double of the spring off of Brandon Workman in the fifth inning. Marte is now 8-for-12 to start Cactus League play. While he may not eclipse 30 home runs as he did in 2019, he'll be a strong batting average asset still capable of at hitting 20 home runs while chipping in some steals and his affinity for extra-base hits should play up in points leagues.

Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run in Sunday's Cactus League game against Arizona.

Rizzo drove in Miguel Amaya on a two-run shot off of Merrill Kelly in the third inning. It was Rizzo's second home run of the spring as he looks to bounce-back from a down 2020 that looks to be mostly suppressed by a low .218 BABIP rather than any skill decline. The 31-year-old could be a value pick at first base, particularly in points leagues that award excellent plate discipline such as Rizzo's.

Willson Contreras drew two walks and homered as the Cubs lost 4-5 in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.

Contreras reached base in all three at-bats, drawing two walks after he blasted his first home run of the spring in the first inning off of Merrill Kelly. The 28-year-old catcher hit .243/.356/.407 with seven home runs and a stolen base for the Cubs in 2020. Contreras is solidified in the top half of the Chicago lineup and will be in position to drive in plenty of runs. He should be drafted among the top-five catchers with confidence.

Victor Gonzalez struck out one batter in a scoreless inning in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rangers.

Gonzalez continued to look sharp this spring, striking out Joey Gallo in a clean fifth inning. He's tallied three strikeouts and has yet to allow a baserunner through three innings. Gonzales has been a valuable piece of the Dodgers' bullpen since debuting in 2020 with a 1.33 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in 20 1/3 innings. He's certainly making his case to pitch in more high-leverage situations and could be a lights-out reliever in holds leagues on a team that could lead the majors in wins.

Joey Gallo hit his fourth home run of the spring in Sunday's 4-3 Cactus League win against the Dodgers.

The solo blast came in the first inning off of Walker Buehler after the right-hander left one up in the zone. The slugger is now 5-for-12 to start Spring Training with four of those hits clearing the fences. Gallo hit .253 with 22 home runs in only 297 plate appearances in 2019 before struggling in a shortened 2020. If he can bounce-back to something close to 2019 levels, he'll be an absolute steal in drafts.
