Gerald Everett didn't catch his lone target in Los Angeles' Divisional Round loss to the Packers.

Even in opening the year behind Tyler Higbee, Everett recorded career-highs in targets (62), catches (41), and receiving yards (417) in 2020, staying healthy for 636 snaps (57%) across 18 appearances, postseason included. 27 in June, Everett (6'3/239) will likely garner interest in 2021 fantasy drafts as an athletic breakout candidate on his second contract pending where he lands as an unrestricted free agent. It would certainly help if Everett walks into a starting role with negligible competition.

Raiders released RG Gabe Jackson.

The move clears $9.6 million in cap space and leaves behind no dead money. One of the very best guards in his heyday, Jackson is closing in on his 30th birthday (in July) and was Pro Football Focus' No. 40 guard out of 80 qualifiers last season, receiving strong marks for his pass protection across 16 starts. Jackson should have a few more solid years left in him and will likely receive strong interest on the open market.

Speaking Wednesday, Vikings GM Rick Spielman stated Kirk Cousins "is our quarterback going forward."

In answering the question, Spielman noted he's heard the rumors this offseason but highlighted Cousins' play down the stretch last season. Cousins threw a career-high 35 touchdowns and posted his highest TD% rate at 6.8% last season, tossing three-plus scores six times from Week 8 forward. Cousins' turnovers always seem to come at the worst times, but Cousins is far from the problem in Minnesota. There were some whispers the 49ers could try to trade for Cousins due to his connection with coach Kyle Shanahan from their Washington days. Cousins has two years left on his deal at $31 million and $45 million cap numbers as it stands right now.

"If calls are made, I will answer them," Douglas said. It's a curious admission from a general manager looking to gain some semblance of leverage in trade talks for a potential franchise QB. Douglas, who said he has "no doubt" Darnold can reach his potential, said he doesn't believe the Jets not knowing who their Week 1 quarterback will be will affect the team during free agency. There are reportedly several teams interested in acquiring Darnold from the Jets, who are widely expected to take a quarterback with the No. 2 pick in this spring's NFL Draft.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas said he has "no doubt" Sam Darnold can reach his "outstanding potential."

In a bluffing master class, Douglas was effusive with praise for Darnold in a Wednesday press conference. "With Sam (Darnold) our stance on Sam hasn’t changed. He’s an extremely talented player," Douglas said. "Very smart, very tough." Several teams reportedly have interest in trading for Darnold this offseason as the Jets could start fresh at QB (again) by drafting a signal caller with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft. Look for the Jets to hype Darnold in the coming weeks in hopes they can get a good deal from a QB-needy team.

49ers C Weston Richburg underwent hip surgery.

Hampered by a range of injuries since 2018, Richburg was a long shot to return to the Niners in 2021. Now his career looks to be in some question after the serious hip injury and subsequent surgery. His release would clear $4.5 million in cap space for the 49ers, a number that jumps to $7.9 million if he's designated a post-June 1 cut. The veteran has no injury protections in his contract.

The Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins reports the Cowboys' contract talks with Dak Prescott on Tuesday were “more productive than they have been” in previous months.

With the deadline for the Cowboys to place the franchise tag on Prescott fast approaching, Tuesday's talks were reportedly more productive than discussions in recent months. A "major sticking point," according to Watkins, is that Prescott wants a four year deal while the team prefers a five year contract. Prescott would become a free agent on March 17 if Dallas doesn't use the franchise tag on him -- a scenario that would alter the quarterback landscape for the entire league. The team isn't overly concerned with Prescott's health after the QB had surgery in October to repair a compound fracture and dislocation of the right ankle he suffered after a scorching hot start to the 2020 season. Prescott had a second surgery in December to help strengthen the injured ankle, and should be ready for training camp in July. There's almost no chance the Cowboys let him walk this offseason.

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports Kyle Rudolph would be interested in signing with the Browns if the team doesn't retain David Njoku.

This comes as NESN's Doug Kyet reports the Patriots are interested in signing the veteran tight end. Cabot cited a source who said Rudolph -- released by the Vikings on Tuesday -- would be open to reuniting with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, who was Minnesota's offensive coordinator in 2019. That year, the lumbering Rudolph caught 39 passes for 367 yards and six touchdowns on 48 targets. Njoku probably won't be back with Cleveland. He's heading into his fifth-year option year at $6.013 million, and since the salary isn't guarantee until the first day of the league year March 17, the Browns can release Njoku with no dead cap space or trade him. Rudolph's addition to Cleveland's roster likely won't affect Austin Hooper's opportunity any more than Njoku or Harrison Bryant did in 2020.

The would-be restricted free agent gets a deal worth $4 million, with $2 million guaranteed. Gray, who has played all 16 games for New Orleans in each of the past two seasons, made eight tackles and recovered two fumbles as a special teamer in 2020. The Saints also cleared $4.34 million in cap space by restructuring DT David Onyemata’s contract. Onyemata had a career year in 2020, logging 6.5 sacks and 44 tackles.
