Manager Dave Martinez said things went well for Lester, who will be at Nationals Park on Friday to do a few things with the staff. Lester has been cleared to return from the COVID-19 injured list but still needs to re-build his stamina. He would figure to need at least one more simulated game before being activated.

Shogo Akiyama (hamstring) shagged fly balls at Great American Ball Park on Friday.

It's a good sign that Akiyama is feeling better as he works his way back from a left hamstring strain. The hope is that Akiyama can play in some rehab games at the Reds' alternate site later this month before being activated in early May. With the emergence of Tyler Naquin, Akiyama might not be in line for a ton of playing time, at least not initially.

Aquino had surgery Friday to remove the hook of the hamate in his left hand. It's a rehab that will take a while, and players often don't have full strength back in their hand initially after returning. Aquino has yet to make a start in the Reds' outfield this season.
