Kuznetsov scored a goal, fired three shots on net and logged two PIM during his return from suspension Tuesday against Dallas.

Kuznetsov was able to take part in the Capitals' preseason schedule, so it's not surprising that he didn't show any signs of rust against the Stars. The 27-year-old Russian will be locked into a top-six role and a spot on Washington's first power-play unit throughout the 2019-20 campaign, and shouldn't have any trouble surpassing the 20-goal mark while threatening the 80-point threshold if he's able to stay healthy.

Devin Shore accounted for his team's lone goal in a 3-1 home setback against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.

Shore's goal was a shorthanded marker at 17:51 of the third period, breaking up Jake Allen's shutout bid in the final minutes of his team debut. He likely didn't have good things to say about Shoresy. The left wing has just the one point, and only two shots on goal through three games, so he can mostly be avoided for fantasy purposes despite the shorty.

Mikko Koskinen allowed three goals on 34 shots in Monday's 3-1 home loss against the Montreal Canadiens.

Koskinen played much better than he did in Saturday's 5-1 setback against these same Habs. Alexander Romanov got him in the first on an even-strength marker, Shea Weber scored on the power play with just 11 seconds left in the second and Artturi Lehkonen lit the lamp on a shorthanded goal midway through the third for some insurance. Koskinen is manning the fort, pretty much on his own, with Mike Smith on long-term injured reserve and the team struggling to get any reinforcements into town due to COVID protocols. Troy Grosenick was claimed off waivers and is starting to process through now. That's good news for fantasy owners, as Koskinen is being leaned upon heavily.

Artturi Lehkonen posted a shorthanded goal in Monday's 3-1 victory against the Edmonton Oilers.

Lehkonen's shorty was one of two in the third period, as Edmonton's Devin Shore also had one for the home side. Lehkonen was helped out by Jeff Petry, the former Oilers draft selection, as he gave a little insurance to new backstop Jake Allen. Lekhonen ended up with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and a hit in his 12:52 of ice time across 22 shifts. Despite the score he is still a bottom-six forward and his fantasy appeal remains rather limited.

Alexander Romanov registered a goal in Monday's 3-1 road victory against the Edmonton Oilers.

Romanov broke the ice midway through the first period to beat Mikko Koskinen, helped out by Paul Byron and Brett Kulak. The rearguard also contributed with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and a minor penalty while trying for the team lead with four hits in his 17:43 of ice time across 24 shifts. The latter category is where he has helped fantasy owners in deeper pools the most, as he has doled out 10 hits across the first three games. The road trip continues Wednesday night in Vancouver.

Shea Weber notched a power-play goal in Monday's 3-1 road win against the Edmonton Oilers.

Weber now has at least one point in each of his first three games. He was tied for the team lead with five shots on goal while dishing out three hits and picking up a penalty. Perhaps the only negative on the night was a minus-1 in the plus/minus department. He ate up plenty of ice time, posting 24:55 across 29 minutes, nearly two and a half minutes more than any other Montreal rearguard. Weber still has plenty left in the tank at 35 years of age and he remains a solid fantasy rearguard in most pools of 12 or more teams.

Jake Allen allowed just one goal on 26 shots in Monday's 3-1 road victory against the Edmonton Oilers in his team debut.

Allen was in a ball cap for the first two games, as starter Carey Price looked sharp in a pair of starts. Allen got his opportunity and didn't show off any rust at all. The Habs look like they could be quite dangerous with such a locked in and experienced goaltending tandem, although it's still quite early in the 56-game season. Allen is only worth a fantasy spot in fantasy pools which allow daily lineup changes, and he is definitely someone to target for DFS owners when the matchup is favorable.

Cam Talbot stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced in Monday's 1-0 road loss against the Anaheim Ducks.

Talbot and Ducks backstop John Gibson had their respective teams locked in a scoreless game after 40 minutes. But Nicolas Deslauriers banged home the only goal of the game to beat Talbot, hanging the first loss on the Wild in three games in Southern California to start the season. Some fans felt the addition of Talbot in the offseason was a bit of a questionable move by general manager Bill Guerin, but he has been tremendous early on. Talbot picked up two overtime wins in Los Angeles, and he gave his team a chance to win in another one-goal game tonight.

Nicolas Deslauriers registered the only goal of Monday's 1-0 victory over the visiting Minnesota Wild.

Ducks goaltender John Gibson and Wild tendy Cam Talbot were locked in quite the duel after two scoreless periods to open. Deslauriers was helped out by Kevin Shattenkirk and Carter Rowney on the lone goal, banging home a pass into a gaping open side of the left net. He ended up with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and a blocked shot in his 10:11 of ice time across 16 shifts. Despite the late-game heroics, Deslauriers doesn't see enough playing time to warrant fantasy consideration outside of the deepest of pools.

Pekka Rinne allowed three goals on 23 shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

This was Nashville's third game of the season and Rinne's first appearance. He didn't look rusty early on, as he made some good saves to keep the score tied, 0-0, heading into the first intermission. But the Hurricanes' young offensive talent eventually went to work (they got goals from Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho and Vincent Trocheck before Nino Niederreiter scored into an empty net). The Preds clearly don't want to give the 38-year-old as much work as he's had in previous seasons. His fantasy upside is extremely limited.

James Reimer allowed two goals on 33 shots in Monday's 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

You can't fault Reimer on either Nashville goal. The first one was scored on a breakaway by Filip Forsberg and the second was an absolute rocket off the stick of Viktor Arvidsson on the power play. The 32-year-old's first start of the 2021 season went relatively well. The veteran isn't going to be a great fantasy option in standard leagues or in daily ones, but he has the ability to come up with solid outings.

John Gibson made 34 saves in Monday's 1-0 victory against the Minnesota, picking up his 20th career shutout.

Gibson has bounced back nicely from his opening-game loss against the Golden Knights when he allowed four goals on 28 shots. He improved to 1-1-1 with a 2.03 goals-against average and .933 save percentage across his first three outings. It's hard to believe Gibson is still just 27 years old, so there shouldn't be much concern about the Ducks burning him out early. After this shutout it's likely he gets the starting nod yet again on Wednesday night in the rematch on NBCSN.

Colton Parayko chipped in with a pair of assists in Monday's victory against the San Jose Sharks.

Parayko didn't take part in Monday's morning skate, but head coach Craig Berube said it was just a maintenance day. He certainly didn't look like he was bothered by anything, as Parayko also ended up with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and a hit while logging 22:56 of ice time across 29 shifts, second-most TOI among the six St. Louis rearguards. He'll be back at it on Hump Day in the second end of the double dip with the visiting Sharks.
