Head coach Fred Hoiberg said Carter would compete with Robin Lopez for the starting center job, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.

The seventh overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, Carter was already expected to be a contributor right away, though it appears he'll actually have a chance to start if he out-performs Lopez during camp. That puts Carter in one of the more intriguing positions among rookies to become a fantasy contributor early on, as a starting job would mean big minutes. That said, Carter is still just 19 years old and Lopez has 10 years of NBA experience, so it certainly will be tough for Carter to ultimately win that job. Look for the battle to commence later this week and expect Carter to get plenty of run in the preseason.

N. Mirotic - PF

Head coach Alvin Gentry said he'd experiment with Mirotic at small forward during the preseason, Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com reports.

Gentry referenced a potential "big" lineup, which would feature Mirotic, Anthony Davis and Julius Randle all in the frontcourt at the same time. Considering the NBA seems to be transitioning to smaller lineups as a whole, it's uncertain when, or if, this lineup would be utilized in the regular season, but it's still something to keep in mind that could help Mirotic's value in the long run. Mirotic spent the bulk of last season at power forward, in addition to some minor work at center, so the option to play at small forward could help keep his minutes up despite Randle's addition this offseason. Mirotic averaged 27.2 minutes across 55 games last year.

J. Bell - PF

Bell will compete with Kevon Looney and Damian Jones for the starting center job, Marc J. Spears of ESPN reports.

The Warriors are expected to be without DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) for an extended amount of time and head coach Steve Kerr confirmed Monday that Draymond Green would remain at power forward to start the year. As a result, Bell, Looney and Jones are expected to battle for the top job. With the likes of Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee and David West all no longer on the roster, the entire trio should see more playing time during the upcoming campaign than they did a season ago. That said, considering the talent already on the roster, Bell would be nothing more than the fifth option offensively if he starts, which would likely limit his fantasy utility to those in deeper leagues.

K. Looney - PF

Looney is expected to battle Damian Jones and Jordan Bell for the starting center job, Marc J. Spears of ESPN reports.

Coach Steve Kerr confirmed Monday that Draymond Green would start at power forward like he has in the past, which is expected to allow one of Looney, Jones or Bell to start until DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) is cleared for a return. With the likes of JaVale McGee, Zaza Pachulia and David West all gone for last season's roster, Looney is likely set for an uptick in minutes whether he starts or continues to come off the bench. That said, if Looney does earn the top job, he'd still be the fifth option offensively and could still struggle to be a fantasy contributor.

Knight (knee) will be held out of training camp and the preseason while recovering from an infection, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Rockets haven't released many details, but it appears as though Knight may have developed an infection following an offseason procedure on his left knee. The hope is that Knight will be ready to go around the start of the regular season, but given that he won't be able to work with his new team during the preseason, it's likely that his Rockets debut will be delayed. The 26-year-old sat out all of last season with a torn ACL and hasn't played in an NBA game since February of 2017.

Coach Steve Kerr said Monday that he doesn't plan to start Green at center this season, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. "The one thing I can tell you for sure is Draymond won't be our starting center," Kerr said. "I won't start small."

Kerr declined to elaborate on who would start at center, saying only that Jordan Bell, Kevon Looney and Damian Jones are all in contention for the spot vacated by the departures of Zaza Pachulia and JaVale Mcgee. While Green will undoubtedly spend some time at the five in certain alignments -- as he has for the past several seasons -- the Warriors typically prefer to save that strategy for situations in which they truly need it. As a result, expect Bell, Looney and Jones to each get some run at center until DeMarcus Cousins returns from a torn Achilles.

Rabb has been entered into the NBA's concussion protocol and is considered day-to-day heading into training camp, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.

Rabb reportedly took a shot to the head during voluntary workouts and was experiencing some concussion symptoms after it. As a result, he's been entered into the league's protocol and will need to progress through a series of tests before getting the green light for training camp. The Grizzlies open up their preseason schedule Oct. 2 against the Rockets and Rabb can tentatively be considered questionable for that contest.

P. Millsap - PF

Millsap recently indicated that he's no longer dealing with any discomfort in his wrist, Chris Dempsey of Nuggets.com reports.

Millsap missed 44 straight games last season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist and he didn't seem to be entirely healthy even when he returned to the lineup. In the final 22 games of the 2017-18 campaign, Millsap averaged just 14.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.1 blocks across 30.4 minutes. Those numbers were all slightly down from where he was at in the first 16 games of the year before going down with an injury. However, after having a full offseason to get healthy, Millsap said his "wrist is 100 percent" and there will be "no protection" needed on it. As a result, fantasy owners should expect a fully healthy Millsap heading into his second year in Denver.
