Marc Berman of the New York Post said the Knicks "would love to pawn off the final year of Smith’s contract at $5.7 million."
Smith has a qualifying offer for $7.7M for the 2021-22 season so Berman is just assuming there's no shot that that is on the table. The Knicks continue to be linked to Chris Paul and DSJ's contract would be one of many the Knicks would need to attach to make a deal work -- Berman also noted that Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina could be moved in that scenario. DSJ's value around the league has likely never been lower but a change of scenery couldn't hurt. May 24 10:30 am (EST)
