Rule 5 pick Jonathan Arauz would have a better chance making the Red Sox with expanded rosters.
Teams were already going to employ 26-man rosters this this season, but now the expectation is that rosters will expand to 29 players when the regular season begins due to the unique circumstances of a possible schedule. MLB is going to want to pack in as many games as possible, including regular doubleheaders. Arauz, selected from the Astros in December's Rule 5 Draft, would be helped by such a scenario. The 21-year-old is still a work in progress with the bat, but his defense can be an asset at multiple positions. Mar 30 1:55 pm (EST)
- Arauz started at second base and went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Thursday's game against the Phillies.
- The Red Sox selected Arauz with the 10th pick of the Rule 5 draft.
- Arauz was suspended 50 games for using a banned stimulant, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. All Jonathan Arauz (B) News
