New York Yankees

The left-handed hitters for the Yankees are in a great spot tonight, and come with some nice power upside. Tonight they are up against Rick Porcello who really struggled against lefties last year, as he gave up a .360 wOBA to them, along with 1.97 HR/9. Those are truly bad numbers, and won’t fare well in this great hitter’s park, along with this powerful Yankees lineup. Porcello also gave up a 41% hard contact rate vs left-handed hitters, along with a 15% HR/FB. This puts players like Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius, and Neil Walker in a spot to capitalize, since they are some of the cheaper members on the Yankees, and have all these factors going in their favor. As always, if you have the salary for the big bats of Stanton, Judge and Sanchez, they also make good picks, but the lefties are cheaper and have the platoon advantage.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals are going to be up against an Angels’ pitcher who just got called up from the minors. That pitcher is Nick Tropeano, who didn’t pitch at all last season due to Tommy John surgery. His last pitched in the majors in 2016, where he gave up a .376 wOBA to left-handed hitters, a .338 wOBA to right-handed hitters, along with 1.59 HR/9 to lefties, and 2.10 HR/9 to righties. This looks like a pitcher you can attack from either side of the plate, and with the wind set to be blowing out towards the outfield at 15-20 MPH, he could get blown up. The left-handed power hitters for the Royals are in a great spot, namely, Lucas Duda and Mike Moustakas. They have big time power against right-handed hitters, putting them in an ideal spot to go deep. Also take a look at Whit Merrifield, Cheslor Cuthbert, or Jorge Soler, since they aren’t too expensive, and make a nice addition to this stack.
