After another crazy offseason full of player movement, we have finally made it to the start of the 2021 WNBA season. Friday’s WNBA DFS slate features several young teams with rising talent as well as a few playoff stalwarts. With several players returning after opting out of the Wubble, there are some huge price discrepancies between the sites. Most teams still have a player or two who has not yet returned from playing overseas, and that could have a drastic impact for fantasy. The playbook and suggested lineups will be updated as we get more player news and starting lineups, and I will be answering questions in the FANation chat as well. For a more in-depth look at each roster coming into the season, be sure to check out our WNBA Team Preview series.
As always, the lineups below are examples of lineups you can make using the players in the Playbook and are not for plug and play.

Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Kristi Toliver | LA | DAL | 6800 | 0 | 6200 | 26.60
Toliver averaged 27.1 DK fantasy points last season, making her far too cheap on that site. She should be a safe play in a nice matchup.
Rachel Banham | MIN | PHO | 5500 | 12.8 | 3000 | 12.53
Erica Wheeler | LA | DAL | 3200 | 0 | 5200 | 22.32
Wheeler was terrible at the end of 2019, and I don't exactly have high hopes for 2021. That being said, she has a good chance to start and Dallas figures to struggle defensively again this season. Wheeler is so cheap on DraftKings, I think I'm playing her even if she comes off the bench.
Crystal Dangerfield | MIN | PHO | 8500 | 24.9 | 5600 | 24.13
I think I prefer Sabrina Ionescu in GPPs because of the matchup, but I think Ogunbowale is safer. She has proven more capable of making shots when she's the only above-average offensive player on her team. I also think Ogunbowale has more help than Ionescu, even with Satou Sabally out.
Natisha Hiedeman | CON | ATL | 4100 | 10.75 | 3000 | 11.18
With Jasmine Thomas out and Briann January questionable, there is an excellent chance Hiedeman and Kaila Charles both start in the backcourt. Hiedeman was much better as a starter last season, averaging 20.8 fppg, so she gets the nod here. However, both guards would be value plays if they start.
Forwards | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Jonquel Jones | CON | ATL | 7000 | 0 | 8100 | 36.41
Michaela Onyenwere | NY | IND | 5100 | 0 | 3100
With Natasha Howard out, I think there is an excellent chance Onyenwere starts in her WNBA debut. She would be the second option on offense right away, and she is one of the few Liberty players I feel good about even in a nice matchup.
Jasmine Walker | LA | DAL | 4000 | 0 | 3200
I feel better about McCowan now that we dont have to worry she will pick up some silly fouls guarding Natasha Howard and will play limited minutes as a result. We're getting a great price on FD for a player who averaged 1.08 fantasy points per minute last season. With Candice Dupree and Natalie Achonwa gone, I think McCowan could be even better this season.
Chiney Ogwumike | LA | DAL | 7000 | 0 | 5600 | 21.57
Tianna Hawkins | ATL | CON | 3500 | 16.62
I can't explain why she isn't in the player pool on DraftKings. She started Atlanta's preseason game ahead of Cheyenne Parker and Monique Billings and if she starts again Friday, I think we'll get a high floor with a decent ceiling. |
