After perusing some numbers for MLB player props at Underdog Fantasy, there were two that jumped off the page at me right away. Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has been one of the best hitters in baseball all year, and he gets to face a right-hander at home this afternoon, which has been a home run, no pun intended, for him in 2022. On the other hand, Texas Rangers’ Corey Seager, one of the biggest MLB free agent signings this offseason, is mired in a rough slump and faces a team that he’s struggled against so far during the 2022 regular season. I added a slight lean to the bottom of the article, going against New York Yankee ace Gerrit Cole today, because it’s hard to ignore the BvP data for one of Tampa Bay’s right-handed bats. Without further ado, here are my two favorite MLB player props over at Underdog Fantasy for Saturday, May 28th.

UNDER 6.5 Fantasy Points

Seager is ice cold at the moment, registering just three hits in his last 26 at-bats, while sporting the league’s lowest OBP among qualified hitters during that stretch. Seager has been better against lefties compared to righties in 2022, but he’s hitting just .178 on the road in 2022, and Oakland’s Zach Logue has been tough on left-handed hitters, allowing just a .158 average and .247 wOBA. In five games against Oakland this year, all of which have been on the road, Seager is 1-for-21 with his lone hit being a single and one walk. Following Underdog’s scoring system, in five games against the Athletics this season, Seager has six fantasy points. As the day goes on, if they add something for Seager at 1.5 total bases, take the under there, too.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases

Yes, the BvP numbers aren’t with Devers, as he’s just 1-for-8 against Lyles, but his lone hit against Lyles is a double, which would give us the over here. So, if it’s not because of BvP, why am I on this player prop so much? Lyles has a 6.00 ERA on the road this year, compared to a 2.10 ERA at home, and Devers is hitting .375 over his last seven games, .394 over his last 15 games, and .381 over his last 30 games! He has a 1.012 OPS against right-handed pitching in 2022, and in his home park, he has a .600 slugging percentage and .985 OPS. There is some weather in the forecast in Boston, but it shouldn’t take long for Devers to get the over here, which he’s done in four of his last six may I add.
