What a phenomenal race we had on Sunday. It was some of the best racing of the season with the multiple grooves and the runs drivers were able to get coming off the corners. Numerous pit penalties were handed out but in short order, drivers were able to drive back up to the front of the pack nearly every time. Yes, it was devoid of the true “big one”, but the several cautions for incidents there were, were enough to shake up the finishing positions and knock some of the big names out of contention.

The GPP percentages are based on the $25K Happy Hour contest with more than 28,000 entries and the Cash percentages are based on a single-entry Double-Up with 1,149 entries.

Things of Note:

  • Denny Hamlin was the highest-owned driver in both contests which made sense given his starting spot and his history at Restrictor plate tracks.
  • Kyle Busch was the only other driver over the 30-percent mark in both contests while Chris Buescher was just a tick shy in the GPP contest.
  • There were five drivers to crack the 60-point barrier and Ryan Preece was the only one to break 70 points on the day after moving up 27 spots.
  • Four drivers, Corey LaJoie, Brendan Gaughan, Ryan Preece, and Reed Sorenson posted values of 10x on the day and another four, Ryan Newman, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman, and Jeffrey Earnhardt, were between 7-8x value.
  • Reed Sorenson represents the best value play in both contests by being the highest scoring driver on the smallest number of rosters.
  • The fade of the week, Martin Truex Jr., wound up scoring 29.25 points for just a 2.9x value but was still played on more than 20-percent of lineups in both contests.
  • There were six total drivers that scored negative points on the day with Denny Hamlin being the one that hurt the most rosters as the highest-owned driver. However, at least three of the drivers were rostered on 10-plus percent of lineups in both contest formats.

The GPP percentages are based on the $6K Go-Kart contest that had 28,000-plus entries and the Small GPP percentages are based on the Bump n Run contest with 300 entries.

Things of Note:

  • Denny Hamlin was the highest-owned driver in the smaller-field GPP and Kyle Busch was the highest-owned in the large-field GPP though his ownership barely changed between the two.
  • Joey Logano was rostered on a quarter or more of rosters in both contests and Brad Keselowski was played on more than 20-percent of rosters in both.
  • There were seven drivers that scored better than 60 points in the race and two drivers topped 70 points on the day.
  • Reed Sorenson was once again the best value play as his 51.3 points were on less than one-percent of rosters in both contests.
  • Five drivers who cost $6,000 or less scored 50 or more points during the race producing big time value rankings with Corey LaJoie topping the charts at 20.4x value.
  • Only four drivers on FanDuel cost you points this week with Michael McDowell costing the most at -12.

Both lineups this week feature the top 5-6 scoring drivers on the sites since many of the highest scoring drivers were low on the salary lists. Both lineups left a hefty amount of salary on the table with the DK OL leaving $4,500 and the FD OL leaving $6,000. That being said, you could have put Corey LaJoie in the FanDuel lineup and lost just .2 points compared to the one with Logano and saved $10,500, meaning you could have had a lineup with 328.7 points for just $33,500 in salary. This is the first time all season that both sites produced optimal lineups that had all of the top scoring drivers in it as typically a couple of the highest-scorers don’t fit salary or value-wise.
