10 Team League

Julio Teheran , SP ATL –  Teheran has had four starts against the Marlins this season and in those four starts he has allowed just a single run over 25 innings while striking out 22. How on earth do you fade him here? He is most certainly floating around most standard league formats, especially after he was rocked by the Mets in his last start.

Sonny Gray , SP CIN – I don’t truly understand the ownerships here as Gray is just 77-percent owned in ESPN and 80-percent owned in Yahoo despite having an ERA of 2.98, WHIP of 1.12 and a K/9 of 10.45 which is by far the best mark of his career. He’s doing all of this while pitching in one of the leagues best hitter parks. If he is still floating around your league you need to add him now and keep him on your roster as he draws the Padres this week but then to kick off next week he has the Marlins.

12 Team League

Ryan Yarbrough , SP TB – I’m always pointing out the teams we like to attack in this article and the two most popular “punching bags” are the Miami Marlins and the team that Yarbrough gets this week in the Baltimore Orioles.  After a slow start Yarbrough has caught fire of late and over his last three appearances he has allowed just one run over 19.2 innings while striking out 23. It’s tough to imagine the O’s getting too much off him right now.

Aaron Sanchez , SP HOU – Yep, so his last start was UGLY but let’s just shake that off as Sanchez will draw the Detroit Tigers for his start this week. The Tigers of course are among the worst offensive teams in all of baseball ranking 29th in wOBA, 28th in ISO and 30th in wRC+ against RHP while owning a league high 26.5-percent strikeout rate. This looks like a good spot for Sanchez to get back on track.

Chris Bassitt , SP OAK – Bassitt has been very steady for fantasy players this season yet his ownership indicates that most have used him as a streaming option from week to week. This would be one of those good weeks to give him a look as he draws a home match up against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants of course rank towards the bottom eight teams in most offensive categories. Bassitt has been strong of late, tossing quality starts in four straight outings.

15 Team League

Mike Montgomery , SP KC – Montgomery has been pretty decent since moving into the Royals starting rotation and it was just two starts ago he notched 12 strikeouts against the Detroit Tigers. He draws a start against the Orioles this week whom I am already looking to target with another pitcher in this article. He has almost zero ownership in standard league formats but I am sure in these deeper leagues  more owners have taken notice. If he is still floating around the waiver pool this is a good spot to pick him up.

Vince Velasquez , SP PHI – A start against the Marlins is in his future this week so let’s go ahead and give him a spot start on your fantasy roster. Velasquez has been about as average as average can be this season but in three starts against Miami he has been good, posting a 3.52 ERA while striking out 15 over 15.1 innings.
