LEC finishes the week on Saturday: Rogue fell into the same trap G2 fell into against S04, but get handed a freebie from Astralis to bounce back. G2 and FNC play out el classico, XL and SK both try to cement their place in mid-tier, and VIT tries once more for their 2nd win of the split against MAD. Let’s look at the picks.

Captain

Humanoid ($11,100)
I am not high on MAD Lions this split, but I think MAD vs Vitality will be easy for the Lions: I still think VIT have a solid bottom lane in Comp and Labrov, but their mid jungle looks absolutely terrible and off-kelter. Szygenda is alright but nowhere near great or even on Cabochard’s level. He comes in cheap, he’s great in lane, and I think he’s capable of attacking Vitality’s weak points: mid lane, and I think Elyoya is solid enough too to take down Skeanz. If you don’t want to pick up Humanoid, just get Larssen since he gets thrown a free one from Nukeduck.
Alternatives to consider: Larssen ($11,400)

Top Lane:

Odoamne ($6,800)
If Rogue weren’t playing against the weakest team in the league, I’d probably second guess taking them up right after getting dropped by S04. But, I don’t see names: I see Astralis, and I see their opponent. Some teams are described as “unbeatable”, I personally would like to refer to Astralis as “unloseable”. Whiteknight is not up to caliber as the rest of the LEC top laners (please come back to us Cabo), and Odo has been one of the best in the league, despite getting flat-tired by S04’s Broken Blade. If you want a different choice, I think Wunder will smash Bwipo, the latter of whom has looked not good at all this split.
Alternatives to consider: Wunder ($6,600)

Jungle:

Elyoya ($7,200)
I think MAD has been very underwhelming, mostly due to their inconsistent bottom lane and awful teamwork, but I think Elyoya has been dead middle of the pack, which is great into Skeanz who is the biggest candidate to overtake Dan as “worst jungler in the LEC”. He’s a bit of a gamble sits MAD has shown to look absolutely incompetent yet luck out into a win such as vs FNC, but I think VIT has looked way worse consistently than MAD, and Skeanz has contributed in this factor, whereas Elyoya looks like a pretty solid player on MAD. If you want a different jungler, I’d grab Jankos and flip the match-up against Selfmade.
Alternatives to consider: Jankos ($7,400)

Mid Lane:

Larssen ($7,600)
Nukeduck vs Larssen. Truthfully, don’t be afraid to make Larssen your captain; it’s a complete 50/50 on who will score more points and will likely come down to champ difference. I slightly leaned towards Humanoid because the MAD mid laner has slightly superior laning statistics, and VIT’s mid/jungle is comparatively worse than AST’s mid/jungle, since Zanzarah is pretty decent. Between the two mid laners, you can’t go wrong. Get one, grab the other, or hell, just grab Caps; he’s great too and plays against an underwhelming Nisqy.
Alternatives to consider: Caps ($7,800)

ADC:

Hans Sama ($8,000)
Finally, I’ll still take Rogue’s ADC. Rekkles vs Upset isn’t a game I’m going to play, and I’m more interested in taking the “sure thing”. Jeskla is one of the better players on Astralis but he still isn’t that great, and support Promisq may be the worst player on the team. Hans has a free ride against Astralis, and he doesn’t even break the bank. There’s tonnes of great ADCs in LEC, but many of them are tied up, like Jezu vs Patrik or Upset vs Rekkles. For a secondary recommendation, I’d try out S04’s Neon, who’s played solidly against the top 2 ADCs in the league.
Alternatives to consider: Neon ($7,200)

Support:

Treatz ($4,400)
Treatz is the underrated gem on SK; but to be honest, they’re all gems. Treatz especially so, he got a bad rep on Team Solo Mid in North America despite being thrown into a relatively poor situation after a fantastic run in academy. In Europe, he still looks fantastic and forms a solid bottom lane with Jezu, their opponents Patrik and Tore are alright; but it’s ADC favored for XL and Tore hasn’t been remarkable. SK have the stronger 2v2 since both players are great, whereas XL only has Patrik. If you want to pay out big for a support, I’d grab Rogue’s Trymbi who gets to play against Promisq.
Alternatives to consider: Trymbi ($5,600)

Team;

SK Gaming ($4,400)
I predicted SK to take out MAD yesterday, and I think they’ll continue the run against XL on Saturday. XL’s Kryze is the only threat to SK, since Jenax is more of a “neutralizer” as opposed to a main carry, whereas Kryze is capable of taking over games. SK have the stronger bottom lane, an even mid lane, and a slightly favored jungle match-up I would say. I think they’re a cheap pick that’s worth your while, but if SK isn’t for you, I’d grab MAD Lions since they get to play against Vitality.
Alternatives to consider: MAD Lions ($5,200)

Stacks:

Elyoya & Humanoid
MAD’s mid/jungle targets Astralis’ weak point in their mid/jungle. Skeanz and Milica look like the weakest mid jungle 2v2 in the league, and while MAD isn’t awe-inducing, they generally get the job done. Humanoid is a good laner, and Elyoya has been pretty alright so far, VIT looks like a bit of a wreck, so prey on their weak points.

Hans Sama & Larssen
I think I’ve put these guys each slate, and I am not going to change it: I think they’re great players despite falling to S04, they get freebies against Astralis. If you want, you can swap out Hans sama for Odoamne too if you want to hit on Astralis’ top lane: Hans Sama and Larssen are still amongst the top 2 of their respective positions, even if they got king-slayed by S04. I can’t wait to see G2 vs Rogue.

Jezu & Treatz
Jezu has a latent potential in him, and he’s basically the main carry for the SK squad: these two remind me a lot of 2020 MAD Lions’ bottom lane. They’re young, explosive, and Treatz is great on the meta supports: Alistar, Thresh, and Leona are amongst his mainstays, but he’s also shown good performances on Rell. Jezu is a straight hard carry and he’s set up well by Treatz, I think SK can stylistically do well into XL, and while it’s a flippant match-up, keep an eye on these two.

Top Picks: Hans Sama, Larssen, Odoamne
Astralis is free; they may be 1-5, but their 1 win is against a fellow bottom feeder in Astralis. The upside to Vitality is they occasionally can show promise, whereas Astralis just look consistently dead. Nukeduck, Whiteknight, and Promisq are their weakest links, so you can pick up these three Rogue players to crush them, and it helps that Rogue is one of the top teams in the league.

Top Value: Jezu, Treatz, Humanoid
SK’s bottom lane looks really competent, as we’ve described above. Humanoid is still a good player with a strong laning phase, but his mid game is extremely rough and he’s prone to dying constantly. Fortunately, Vitality is even less competent in the mid game, it should be a free win for the underperforming Lions, Milica looks off his game, and Skeanz doesn’t look much help to him either.
