New Jersey Devils Vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lighting are -180 favourites to win tonight and have a team total sitting at 3.5, the highest of any team on the slate. Most people are going to be targeting the Lightning on this slate, and that’s the right decision.

Steven Stamkos is $6600 on DraftKings, but he’s not the best option on this slate. For $300 more, Brayden Point has the higher upside, the easier matchup and the better linemates. Stamkos is still very much a good option on this slate, but he won’t maximize value. Point is playing with Kucherov and Johnson and he also gets power play time on the top unit.

You can stack the entire second line for Tampa Bay and still hit value. In a GPP, Tampa bay’s top line of Stamkos, Yanni Gourd and J.T. Miller is probably the way to go. Their ownership should be lower because the matchup on paper isn’t as favourable.

Victor Hedman would complete the a three-man power play stack if you wanted to go that way. On a short slate like this one, It’s best to maybe keep Hedman’s exposure to GPPs only. He’s a solid cash game option too, but you can find better value elsewhere.

Louis Domingue is an excellent option tonight because the Devils are a terrible hockey team on the road. For whatever reason, they just can’t win games on the road. Domingue is $8500 on FanDuel, which is probably the only place to use him.

On the flip side, there really isn’t much to love about New Jersey. Their top line of Taylor Hall Kyle Palmieri and Nico Hischier is a GPP option because their ownership should be low, but that’s about it. It’s quite possible that the Devils don’t score a goal in this contest.

Anaheim Ducks Vs. Nashville Predators

Just like the previous game, this one should be all Nashville from start to finish. The Ducks aren’t a great hockey team and they are the biggest underdogs on the slate.

The only line worth targeting in this game is the top line of Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg and Kevin Fiala. Ideally, it would be best to mini-stack Forsberg and Fiala in cash games.Johansen doesn’t generate much offence in terms of shots on goal, so he’s very dependant on picking up points.

If you are looking for power play correlation, you aren’t going to find it here. The Predators have Fiala and Forsberg on seperate power play units and captain Roman Josi isn’t skating on the top unit. For whatever reason, Nick Bonino is on the top power play unit, so if you want to use him as a single bullet option in cash games, you can. Mattias Ekholm is on the top man advantage and he’s only $4500 on FanDuel. You can throw together Johansen/Forsberg/Ekholm/Bonino as a four-man PP stack in a GPP and call it a day.

Pekka Rinne is the top goalie option of the night and he is worth the high price tag. It’s going to be hard to fit him into a cash game lineup, but if you can do it, it’s a huge advantage. The one small downside here is that the Ducks aren’t great at generating many shots, so Rinne will have to be near perfect to hit value.

As for the Ducks, there is nothing worth considering. You could stack their top line with John Gibson in goal if you wanted to go super contrarian, but that probably won’t win you anything.

Edmonton Oilers Vs. Los Angeles Kings

It’s really impressive to see both these teams be so bad this season. The Kings are playing on back-to-back nights and are really just a mess from their offence to their goaltending situation. Edmonton offers the better value, so they are the team to target in this contest.

There is no chance that Anze Kopitar and company shut down McDavid in this game. He’s just too good of a player. Los Angeles could barely contain rookie Elias Pettersson, so why would they be able to stop the best player in the NHL?

McDavid will cost you an arm and a leg to roster, but he’s worth it. The Kings aren’t this great defensive team that everyone is used to and McDavid could easily tear them apart alone. He’s playing on a line with Drake Caggiula and Leon Draisailt, so you can stack them all together in a GPP or you can mini-stack McDavid/Draisaitl and call it a night. That duo isn’t cheap to roster, but can anyone stop them?

On the back end, Oscar Klefbom is quarterbacking the top man advantage and he’s only $4800 on FanDuel. That’s good enough to earn him a spot in cash games. Outside of him, no other defenceman is worth looking at.

\My favourite goalie play of the night is Mikko Koskinen, and it’s not even close. The 30-year-old has been the better goalie for the Oilers since the beginning of the season. He was really good against Anaheim and if head coach Ken Hitchcock was smart, he would give Koskinen another start. He’s only $7600 on DraftKings, so that would be the best spot to use him.
