2023 Player Outlook

A late bloomer, De La Cruz finally came up for a full-season run in the majors in 2022 after most of seven seasons in the minors. It was a solid full-season debut hitting .252/.294/.432 with 13 HR, 43 RBI, 38 R, and four steals with a .313 wOBA. Now with one season under his belt, he’s expected to be a starting outfielder from the start of the year for the Marlins. De La Cruz is likely to slot into left field as Miami wants to take advantage of Avisail Garcia’s arm in right field. While De La Cruz does have a decent combination of counting stats for a late-round outfielder flier, the one downside to him in 2023 is that he likely hits in the bottom three of the Marlins lineup, and that will limit his at-bat upside.
