2023 Player Outlook
Last year was a bit of a redemption year for Luzardo after the horrible showing in the second half of 2021. Over a career-high 100.1 innings and 18 starts, Luzardo posted a career-best 10.76 K/9 and 3.32 ERA (3.12 FIP, 3.11 xFIP, 3.28 SIERA). It’s quite easy to love the stuff that Luzardo possesses with three plus-pitches in his mix, the problem becomes just how often can he beat the injury bug. If we can see improvement from him in terms of durability and innings pitched again, he’ll take a big leap forward in fantasy value in 2023. If Luzardo can approach 150 innings and keep a K/9 over 9.0 along with a mid-3.00 ERA, we’re talking about him as an SP3 at worst for fantasy baseball in 2023.
