2022 Player Outlook

The Angels might have found something here with the southpaw. Sure, his 3-6 record isn't anything outstanding, but he posted a 1.21 WHIP, 25.9 percent strikeout rate and 51.1 percent ground ball rate in 2021. He dropped the usage of his four-seamer in 2021, and he added in a sinker that posted a 52.1 percent ground ball rate itself. He also did a great job limiting hard contact, as confirmed by his 97th percentile average exit velocity and 74th percentile hard hit rate. The Angels went out and invested in their rotation, but even though he's no longer considered the team's SP2, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as the second-most valuable starter on this team from a fantasy perspective. He may only get to about 140-150 innings, but he should post a sub-4.00 ERA with over one strikeout per inning. He's an arm you should be targeting and his change up is lethal.
