2023 Player Outlook
It’s not often that we see the reigning league batting champ traded in the offseason. In fact, the last time that happened was 1978 when Rod Carew was traded. Yeah, that’s a while ago. Miami needed another bat to the lineup for sure, but is Arraez’s bat enough to help them? As good of a contact hitter as Arraez is, his .316 AVG last year is only the third-highest of his four-year career, there’s not a ton of power. His eight homers last year is a career-high. The lefty-infielder should be the leadoff hitter for the Marlins this year which ups his runs scored upside and should give him more chances to run, but the rest of the stat line might fall a bit between the average, home runs, and RBI.
