2022 Player Outlook

Burnes won the Cy Young for the National League in 2021, so there isn't really much to be said. He was excellent last year, posting a 2.43 ERA with a 35.6 percent strikeout rate across 167 innings of work. Lastly, in 2021, his percentile ranking was in at least the 97th percentile or better for the following categories: xwOBA, xERA, xSLG, barrel rate, strikeout rate, whiff rate, chase rate, and fastball spin rate. The reigning Cy Young award winner will be relied upon to anchor many fantasy baseball rotations this season and deserves to be one of the first couple starters off the board. He's elite on a per-inning basis, has a decent offense behind him, and a good bullpen to preserve his leads. Even if he doesn't get to 200 innings, he does enough to warrant top-tier SP1 status.
