2023 Player Outlook
Loaisiga got off to a slow start, posting an 8.31 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in his first 19 appearances. A shoulder injury cost Loaisiga close to two months of the season but once he was reinstated from the IL he started throwing his changeup (.088 BAA) a bit more and his slider a bit less and while his strikeout rate dropped, so did his ERA and WHIP. In his last 31 appearances, Loaisiga posted a 1.76 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Loaisiga has a direct path to a closer's role should Clay Holmes be unavailable or struggle on the mound and should also be a good resource for holds this season.
