2022 Player Outlook
Fried proved that 2020 was no fluke as the Braves new “Ace” went 14-7 with a 3.04 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP while striking out 158 over 165.2 innings. Now, he struggled in the playoffs, posting a 5.91 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers in the NLCS and then a 4.91 ERA over two starts against the Astros in the World Series. That notwithstanding however, there are still plenty of things we liked seeing out of Fried in 2021 as he posted a career best BB/9 rate while increasing his K/9 from the season before. Of course, we would like to see Fried pitch deeper into games in 2022 but he is firmly a top the Braves rotation and is currently being drafted among the Top 25 starters in fantasy baseball drafts right now with an ADP somewhere in rounds five or six.
