2022 Player Outlook
Flexen might have had one of the quieter 14-win seasons in quite some time. Across 179.2 innings of work, he posted a 14-6 record with a 3.61 ERA (4.30 xERA), 1.25 WHIP and 5.4 percent walk rate. His lack of strikeouts kept him lower on the fantasy radar, and he had some interesting splits, where he was better against lefties compared to righties, and while his 4.06 ERA on the road was higher than his 3.23 mark at home, he went 7-1 on the road. Not to be a pessimist, but Flexen's ERA is going to be in the mid-4s in 2022, which is really going to hurt his fantasy value. He's never been a big strikeout guy, so that doesn't figure to change in 2022. Last year, his 3.61 ERA was quite good, but does he carry the same value if he's a guy with a 6.50 K/9 and 4.50 ERA? I don't think so. Tread carefully in 2022 with Flexen and his pristine command.
