2022 Player Outlook

While a cursory glance at Lopez' 2021 numbers will show you improvements in strikeout rate, walk rate and a variety of ratios, you need to take it all with a grain of salt as he bounced back and forth between the rotation and the bullpen. As a starter, Lopez posted a 4.10 ERA with 33 strikeouts over 37.1 innings. Not bad, but nothing outlandish. As a reliever, though, Lopez posted a 2.21 ERA over 20.1 innings with a solid 9.70 K/9. Again, the numbers were good, but even the uptick he saw in strikeouts, it wasn't anything that turned the heads of fantasy baseball players. He'll get the opportunity to compete for a spot at the back end of the rotation, but he is more likely to open the season back in the pen.
